Young Kelly is some operator and a great reader if the game, some amount of ball flowed through him."
Does this not give you hope for the future??? The conveyor belt of talent will dry up over the next few years?

No it doesn't give me any hope for the future Avon, as the journey both sets of players will embark on now is very different,

Galway will do their best to bring as many of those young Galway lads through and some will make it to senior and will tip away with their county and the fittest will be picked of by the Aussies.

The fittest of the dublin players the most athletic will be taken into the dub setup and programmed to play yer style of footy.

10 years from now how many senior allirelands will this Galway team have compared to their dublin counterparts?

Correct. Anyone trying to tell you that youth team successes means that all is well at senior is spoofing. Youth teams win largely on natural ability. They don't have the necessary years of conditioning under the belt; and, while youth games look fast, in reality, there's more time on the ball and the football isn't very cynical.

It's an irrelevant comparison. Dublin's youth teams aren't prepared all that different / better than anyone else's.

The inequalities start at senior level - 6-figure pro Rugby S&C coach, 3 physios, 28 back room staff etc.

Kerry have won a lot of underage stuff recently, for all the good it's doing them at senior level. If there really wasn't a wider problem, Kerry would have been able to do more with a very good stream of youth talent. An as you say, Galway will be no different.

Exactly, underage football is football at its purest essmac and even though its great to win it doesn't gaurentee senior success as you say look at ourselves down here in kerry and it's what happens after that and the pathways to senior set up that matters.

This Galway team might be lucky the fact that there is Covid the Aussies might not be able to recruit the way they do in other years and they might not have their best players picked off.

Galway done well considering all the injuries to key players
Both before and during the game
Galway has to look after this group there a talented and commited lads
Dublin as usual were coming on strong at the end
I dont know what they are doing as regards Strenght and conditioning
But like their senior team the Dublins lads were very strong and physicaly fit
And at times they sail close to the edge as regards tackling,
They have it down to a fine art
Im quite sure they will get a few more players off that team

God i wish you were wrong but the points being made are spot on.
What is more disheartening is the fact that Dublin HQ also known as croke park refuse to see it and therefore refuse to act.
If it was a once in a generation team like kerry , killkenny I would be telling people to move on but look at the age profile and starting line up from 2011 to yesterday and dublin to me have effortlessly created at new golden generation.

Rule changes that would help even the playing field without damaging the quality
1 reduce the subs to 3
2 reduce the match to 60min
3 reduce the squad sizes and make counties name their squad at the start of the championship
4 drop the sky 8s

These changes would help bridge the gap, also review funding so it is fairly shared.

Hmm this seems interesting the change in rules... Well, to reduce the squad sized and make counties name their squad seems chaotic if you come to think of it. I think there will be a lot of confusion about it. Maybe for me? It would be great if someone can explain it. Thanks in advance!

Ya the 3 sub rule and the game been brought back to 60 mins could help a lot as its usually from 60 mins on that dublins professionalism seems to take them steam rolling over the line, it's a pity coz a 60 min game is over too quick as you see in club games.

Could we please go back to U21again
It was a fine age to stop underage and then if good enough to go senior
A lot of issues have come up because they lowered the age group
For example the lads now doing the Leaving cert are now 18/19 yrs age
And cannot play in that year and were loosing lads like this too
There was no need tto change it really
Even the media and lot people still call it the U21

I disagree. People turning 20 is more than enough to go on to play full adult open grade games all the time be it football or hurling.. Yes people may be doing leaving cert older than before but that shouldnt stop them playing sport.
A change was needed and if anything the u20 season especially at club level should be throughout the year and players mix playing between under 20 and senior or junior a/b/c as is required

The U21 championships were a great competition. If it ain't broke why fix it?

Because the change helps more players. Going back to under 20 and if you stop under 20s who are already playing senior then you help get more playing at inter county level and reduce load on the very best players.

Connaught and Ulster were both decided by penalties this year, this should not happen in championship at any level as I feel it devalues the competition.

There was talk 1 time of replacing the junior football championship with an U23 competition, I like this idea as it keeps lads that are interested but are not yet quite up to senior level in the game.

How is competition devalued?
You need to have less replays. Cant be a replay all the time and you cant simply have extra time going on forever so you need a tie breaker. If not penalties then something else. What would you do?

If you changed to an U23 competition from junior you'd be stopping any lad over 23 and not quite good enough for senior level from having the chance of representing his county.Galway won connaught in 2019 and 2020 and the majority of the team as far as i can see were well over the 23 yrs old.only 2 of the 2020 winning team were on the senior panel for any length time, those being Sean Denvir and Michael Day.Think myself they should have left it at U21 level myself.Have no argument against them changing to the U17 from U18 as most would be doin the leaving at 18 if left as it was.

Great game between Dublin and Wicklow last night. Wicklow really put it up to Dublin, and were arguably unfortunate as they missed two good more goal chances in the period in which they were flying after half time. Great reffing too.

On that evidence, we have gone to the well once too often. Much to the joy of all the rest of you no doubt! Global domination no longer imminent...

We slipped under the radar last night with a 5 point win over Clare while missing an injury time penalty. I guess only those kids feel the elation. What seldom seen is beautiful.
