The captains of any All-Ireland winners have obvious proven leadership skills and if a captain wants to deliver a speech thanking everybody who assisted in delivering the title well so be it." If the captain "wants"? I'm pretty sure he's told what to say, word for word,, also, as another poster said,, some captains may not even want to give a speech at all. All bar a few captains just list off a load of names thanking their family , management and sponsors yes I think the manage to write them by themselves. There was a time when we cherished qualities like. restraint and self-effacement. Cluxton in no show man- but he is a footballing genius who behaves in a. dignified and humble way in victory..
