Cavan might have played their best football in the second halves but if they play like they did in the majority of their first halves they will be 40 points behind at that stage. I am not trying to belittle Cavan they have done exceptionally well to win out Ulster but Dublin are at another level and if Cavan faced Donegal tomorrow I would expect Donegal to win. Cavan are on a similar enough level to ourselves and Meath and we seen what the Dubs done to Meath last day out and us in recent years. sourmilk93 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1206 - 03/12/2020 13:12:23 2317928 Link 1 |
Fingers crossed.....

If Cavan bring their Ulster final form into the game? We'll win. Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 575 - 03/12/2020 13:14:35 2317930 Link 0 |
Cavan will be"40 points" behind by half time if they play like they did in the majority of their first halves, 40 POINTS !! IN 35 MINUTES YEA OK -:) superbluedub (Dublin) - Posts: 2842 - 03/12/2020 13:34:46 2317936 Link 0 |
it was an an exaggeration obviously, but the game will be gone. Down were 10 points up on Cavan who done excellently to come back but if they go 10 points down early against Dublin the scoreboard is only going one way IMO.

Hopefully Cavan can stay competitive, same for tipp, if there is to be a shock I'd go for Tipp by 3.. Galwaymaster9 (Galway) - Posts: 397 - 03/12/2020 13:44:21 2317938 Link 0 |
I have a sneaky feeling for Tipp this weekend and anything other than a Dublin win is almost impossible to imagine. Cavan should cover the handicap (+14) and comfortably enough if they really go for it and bring something new to the table. I think deep down Mickey Graham will be hoping for a good performance first and foremost and anything in single digits defeat wise would be a good day at the office for them. That might sound a big condescending but I'm trying to be realistic. Look at the hope Meath had coming into the Leinster final and how that evaporated after 15 minutes. Cavan need to keep the feel good factor after the Ulster final, get out of the semi relatively intact (and not take a serious beating) and then hopefully get Moynagh and McVeety back for next year to add to their drive for three Ulster finals in a row. 'The best way to do that is give them something they've never seen before.' Just curious Ponger what you might have in mind? It has to be loosely within the rules, can't be illegal and you're not allowed bring weapons or animals onto the pitch since it's not a hurling match. We upset their warm-up in 2006, but you can't do that in "neutral" Croke Park anymore, Cavan have to go where they're told. Do Cavan have a haka or would the lads be up for wearing wigs and make-up? Same pairings as 1920 (I say 1920 but, actually, the Tipp game wasn't played until 1922) so I'll go for the same scores. lionofludesch (Down) - Posts: 475 - 03/12/2020 14:22:57 2317949 Link 1 |
My guess is the Dubs have seen both those things on recent team holidays ;)

Jaysis Pericles, I can think of one or two instances instances where the animals were actually playing.

The league doesn't count for much. We are better than Westmeath Laois and Meath. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5246 - 03/12/2020 16:57:49 2317975 Link 2 |
You won't get within eleven points of Dublin like Westmeath did i'm afraid. I hope i'm wrong though.

I'm with you on the animals thing Avonali and if it's any encouragement to Cavan I'd say our lads would have turned up in sequinned belly tops and body paint if it meant a 2 point turnaround in the final scores in either 2016 or 2017:) Chucking the GPS was nothing!

Jealousy hanging out of some people. Cavan are better than all but 1 teams in Leinster. Fact, Cavan are there as Ulster Champions and they'll give a better account of themselves than I witnessed the other week, some Meath and Kildare people don't like it. Hope it pisses on you when you go for your walk tomorrow evening.

Fairly easy Dublin V mayo final. Dubs will hammer cavan and mayo will beat tipp. But tipp will give them a game. The 11 points that my county were beaten by will be the nearest any team will get to Dublin mickcunningham (Westmeath) - Posts: 1898 - 03/12/2020 18:35:36 2317993 Link 2 |
