Marty and Darragh Maloney are miles ahead imo. Think Maloney is a fantastic commentator.

As for analysis, look, it's not rocket science, I'm personally not pushed about a game being forensically analysed, insight etc, at the end of the day these guys are basically just telling you what you just saw, the team with better players, (or these days fitter players) still generally win, I like listening to Pat and Sean going at it, think it's good entertainment.

Replying To s goldrick:  "terrible commentary, co-commentary and analysis on RTE, especially where Ulster foitball is concerned. they frequently get the teams mixed up (saying Donegal instead of Tyrone or visa versa. joanne cantwell said Donegal were down to 13. I am sure they also said Macmenemin was black-carded. their views on decisions their knowledge of the players is poor.
on the Sunday game later the highlights of the Armagh v Tyrone game were atrocious . the editing was terrible. you could not get a sense of the game at all."
obviously I meant Monaghan v Tyrone
or was it Armagh v Monaghan…
anyway you get the picture.

I found Tomás O Sé very irritating on the co commentary yesterday, due to the amount of times he told us the match 'was "brillant" to watch' in the first 20mins. When the match actually became quite absorbing further into it, he dropped his need to seemingly sell us mutton dressed as lamb. For 20mins there, it was like listening to Martin Tylet, or Andy Gray in his heyday, overselling a drab dreary Premiership encounter on SkySports.

RTE on the GAA are sanitised eye washing. Where Mayo are concerned it is OTT rubbish. And yeah ultimately they dont like Tyrone. There is an element in the GAA (in every county including my own) like the clown in the Donegal Jersey behind the Presentation of Cup. Brolly btw is spot on. The match yesterday was gripping even if the football was hit and miss, but it was gripping and no matter what, it has to be hard luck to Mayo and well done to Tyrone. But RTE are brutal in their presentation.

In fairness it's very hard to see tactics and setups on tv. You need an overall view of the pitch for this so they do have to tell you what's going on. You don't see movement off the ball on the TV.
