Replying To Canuck:  "That correct Lockjaw but hard to fathom why some people will kill off something they crave for. Now in fairness they are a minority with bad behaviour but ruin it for the majority who follow the rules. Is it a macho thing, that I can do what ever I like ?"
I think maybe there is a bit of that alright. "I'll not be told by anyone that I have to wear a mask" But that kind of thinking is ridiculous. Most people are sensible enough to wear a seat belt when driving and turn on their head lights when driving in the dark. There is no grand conspiracy there. You just do it because it's the safe and sensible thing to do. I don't see why wearing a mask for an hour when you're in doing your grocery shopping should be any different. Medically qualified people have strongly advised it. I'm certainly more comfortable heeding their advice than from some quacking yokel that uploaded a video to YouTube.

Even if you don't believe that mask wearing offers any protection and is a waste of time - don't be an asshole. Just wear it when out and about. Those involved in the service industry have more to be worrying about and doing than having to debate and argue.

Replying To ballydalane:  "In fairness, it was a mass pitch invasion with a multiple pile up thrown in for good measure. Whether you like Arlene Foster or not, she's First Minister of NI at a time that her govt are imposing stricter lockdown measures, it would be remiss of her not to mention the incident as something not to be repeated."
But that's exactly my point - it's not that I don't expect these things to be pointed out and as you say, as Joint First Minister of NI it would be remiss of her not to mention it. However, why then did she not feel the same sense of public duty to mention the other incidents I have mentioned (as examples by the way as there have been other cases)? There were pictures of the Glentoran fans (who were in the permitted 500 spectators) all congregated together/mass pile up at the front of stand celebrating with the players and then there were the videos etc of the fans lining the Newtownards Rd that evening. The only difference in the two stadiums was that the GAA fans went on to the pitch - both sets of fans though were still ignoring the distance restrictions. Yet one makes headlines and the other goes unreported. Go figure!

I know you are not condoning the pitch incursion, just pointing out the amnesia about other incidents. Look it is just a case of I don't likes these people anyway and what they stand for, so I will stick the boot in to them any chance available. Now these other people who I am more in align with I will not draw any attention to them. Unfortunately it is how politicians every where now behave. Stir up as much sh-t as possible and you will always have a base support from radicals.

When we reach level 4 Jimmy McGuinness is going to confiscate all of our phones and put them in a big bag!

It was inevitable the way cases were going. It must be so worrying for all of our local businesses. I see some have businesses have welcomed suggestions as to where they might donate their perishable goods. That is a magnificent gesture in what must be an awfully fraught time. It's exactly that type of civic mindedness that is required by us all at this moment in time. We will get through this. Time to batten down again and do the right thing.

It's probaly a combination of things in Donegal.
Donegal being a tourist County, staycation holidays. Bordering 3 of the 6 Counties. Ridiculous in a pandemic that there is 2 different ways of treating the virus on a small island.

Yeah ye know yourselves in Cavan being a border county as well, the movement over and back on a daily basis makes something like controlling an outbreak of Covid very difficult indeed. Lots of people's lives are going to be severely impacted by this. Has the situation in Laois, Offaly and Kildare improved since they emerged from their 3 weeks of Level 3 restrictions? I can only hope it did.

Hearing word that there is a "peaceful assembly" planned for Letterkenny tomorrow afternoon. I won't dignify them by mentioning their group name but you can guess the gist of what they'll be protesting against.

My God what an embarrassing shower.

It really is crap and feel for people like yourself and your people of Donegal who are being let down by a minority of idiots. Hard to understand how one of the least populated counties by size could end up in this situation.

The science denying, law defying, conspiracy theorist brigade. Too much time in their hands.

East Donegal is not sparsely populated and Derry City and Strabane are on the Border. The rates are high on both side and is obviously being spread over and back.Thousands of people cross the border every day.An example particularly relevant to GAA people is O'Neills factory in Strabane where there is an outbreak and of the 700 workforce, half are from Donegal.People further south might not realise that the Finn Valley area of Donegal and West Tyrone are one region where the border is irrevelant Similarly further down the Foyle Innishowen and Derry City are naturally one region.

You have explained the issue really well. We cant really think of this on a county basis as there is so much travel between Donegal, Derry and Tyrone. For example someone living in Lifford could be over and back to Strabane on a daily basis and vice versa. The figures are really staggering and really hope we can get this under control. Even before Donegal moved to level 3, most clubs were struggling to fulfil underage fixtures due to pending covid tests.

What's the cause? No masks? Would you recommend a tighter border?

What is the cause anywhere? At the moment it is high in the area on both sides of the border.Would you recommend a tighter border between Galway and neighbouring counties?

Can only speak of Offaly which seems to have got control over its outbreak. The only real instance was a group that booked into a hotel in Tullamore were found majority had it (from Dublin) hotel had to shut again to test staff etc. But apart from that it seems ok. Good luck in Donegal it's a terrible situation to be in.

Tighter borders are not really an option, and would be impossible to monitor. An all-Island approach would be a much more logical approach, however unpalatable to some political views. But it was implemented successfully for the "foot and mouth" crisis...

Then why was the Border brought up? I'm just asking questions. I lived by the Galway-Clare border and I guess if there was an issue there the Authorities might have to do something like shutting down the roads. That Galway to Ennis to Limerick road would be a nightmare. I hope it never comes to that.
