One of my worst days in Croke Park was the semi final of 2001 where Meath hammered us. It was awful watching Sean Boylan running the line trying to rein his players in. You could see him telling them to slow down and not score any more. On the way home that night we stopped in Wexford st for a drink, that was even worse. We got sympathy and pitiful looks, bouncers holding the door and saying sorry. I never want that again. I'll take hatred over pity every time I'm perfectly happy with Cork and Mayo supporters disliking us. I think it was 1991 when Cork hammered us by 15 points and the chant from them was "lock the gates and make the fu***rs watch" now that's more like it ;) ky_dub (Kerry) - Posts: 16 - 28/08/2019 20:08:49 2230239 Link 0 |
It was 1990 Cork hammered Kerry but in 1991 Kerry beat Cork.

Kerry 100%, I backed them to win it out at the start of the Super 8's so my pocket is a good reason! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2188 - 28/08/2019 20:50:24 2230250 Link 2 |
I'd be delighted for the Dubs if they do the 5 in a row because I think they are a really great bunch of lads and have been a great team to watch over the last few years but!.....I'll be equally pleased if this young Kerry team spearheaded by young Clifford and Geaney and O' Sé manage to do the nigh impossible and beat this great Dublin team in Croke Park. In conclusion, looking for a cracker of a game and will be happy for whatever team wins. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 28/08/2019 20:50:39 2230251 Link 1 |
You're right of course, I probably have a brain freeze about losing to Down again in 91 another day in Croke Park I want to try and forget

Dublin deserve to win 5 in a row, play the game in the right way but that is only due to the amount of outstanding players they have had. I don't think Kerry can put it up to the Dubs as they did in 2013 & 2016. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 28/08/2019 21:25:30 2230266 Link 4 |

Dublin. For the unbelievable players they have and the consistency of top class displays year in year out, the hunger and drive to keep at the top has to be admired crnm (Donegal) - Posts: 100 - 28/08/2019 21:36:33 2230276 Link 5 |
Dubs all the way, hoping they can make history and win the 5 in a row, fantastic team and top class ambassadors for the game. Dubs by 5 or 6 points at least. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 2705 - 28/08/2019 22:13:50 2230287 Link 3 |

Nothing in this for the neutral. You'd miss Mayo. Dublin winning is a but soul destroying. Too many advantages. Too much false modesty. gahfan (Wexford) - Posts: 631 - 28/08/2019 22:51:04 2230295 Link 1 |

I could never shout for any Kerry team ever. Their moaning, yapping and whingeing when Tyrone were beating them was hard to take and left a very bitter taste amongst Ulster Gaels. As much as Dublin get every assistance going I hope they win by 15pts+ just to see the reaction in Kerry. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9688 - 29/08/2019 02:11:42 2230315 Link 2 |
