Some man. From a back to a top class forward. He gave everything to the cause. Will be sorely missed.

Best forward Mayo had for years and was still showing the way in his final season.
Best of luck to him.

Wasn't aware, great player, deserved at least a couple of AI medals but it wasn't to be. Best of luck in the real world Andy!

Fantastic player a serious class act, will be badly missed not just by mayo but neutrals who enjoyed watching him play.
mayo should get him onboard as a forwards coach.

Great servant to his county and always very honest in his efforts. A great role model to young players and although never landed the big one will always be remembered as a great forward. He seems the type of player that will get involved in coaching / managing so we'll possibly see him again!

Thank you Andy. A gent on and off the field. Gave it his all for Mayo. A real role model for younger players. A super player. He will be missed.

Great player. Really was impressed with him in the super 8 match he played against us, you see much more about a plater when you see him in the flesh rather than on TV. He is a real leader of men.

Andy was good but Cillian O Connor the highest scorer of all time, FGS!

By your logic that makes Cillian O'Connor a better forward than Gooch, Maurice Fitzgerald, Peter Canavan, Pat Spillane, Matt Connor etc.......

In anyways, well done Andy on a great innings. Not many make the transition between defender and forward but it shows the ability that the man had.

He did brilliantly to come back from that horrible injury against Down in 2012, to improve as well as recover is some going.

One of the great Roscommon men never to win All Ireland.

Some serious fool giving a thumbs down to every post here...

Andy always made a difference. I'm looking forward to seeing him going into coaching... if he gets the chance to pass on a fraction of what he has to a new generation they won't need luck to get them over the line. Enjoy your family time Andy!

Great player, hated him as a rival but always respected him as a player, a super talent. Well done and best of luck to him in whatever the future holds.

Best of luck Andy for the future, was one of our best forwards for years, a leader on and off the pitch, if we had 6 of him we would have won an All Ireland title or 2, will be badly missed but now is the time for the younger players to step up to the mark. As for CoC god help us, has been useless in the past 2 years, he should hang up his boots also, knees are gone, doesn't matter what the head says its the body that makes the final decision

I'd have to agree. The badge kissing in Kiltoom was silly and immature back a few years ago but yes he was a quality forward who along with many of his colleagues just came up short in winning an All Ireland.

Good Luck Andy, sorry that the Big One escaped. Class finisher who could win his own ball. Best box office since Willy Joe.
