Successful Teams In The Future

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Other than the likes of Dublin in football and Tipperary in hurling, what teams will be successful 5 - 10 years from now in both codes? I'll make two wild predictions. Sligo will be in the Joe McDonagh and London will finally be competitive in football.

I think this Cork U20 football team is savage and may actually bring an element of competition to the MSFC in a couple of years time. If these lads can transition to senior level, and more fail than succeed, then we could be looking at a cracking Cork team emerging over the next few years. They seem to have the perfect balance of power (overpowered Dublin in the semi), athleticism and skill. They also have a nice feeder team building in the form of their minors.

I can see kerry (obvious choice really) being really strong in 2024 with Sean o se and Clifford hitting peak years and with the underage success at minor also being a good age profile they will be strong

Dublin also but surely won't be as strong as they are now but still dominating Leinster championship

Cork also look to be getting our act together and while I do believe an all Ireland may not occur I'd imagine we could be well up to Kerry's level and perhaps win a Munster title or 2

Galway go deep into alot of underage tournaments and may well be up there perhaps ahead of mayo in the timeframe

I also believe kildare will be in with a big shout of dethroning Dublin in Leinster after the 3 years under jack o conner and the young players they have now and coming up they will be well set in 5 years time

The contenders by then could well be kerry,Dublin and perhaps Galway

In hurling I believe cork will be well within the reaches of perhaps 2 or 3 all Irelands in the time with the young players hitting a good age

Can never not mention Kilkenny who as always will be up there as contenders but you never know perhaps cody will have stepped down and the respect and fear of the jersey could have wained a little

Galway again basing this on the multiple all Ireland finals and semi finals the underage teams seem to make

Also Tipperary with the u21last year and u20s this year looking strong

Contenders to be cork and tipp

Afraid we could watch that space for the next century and there wouldn't be anything to see.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. They have been too reliant on permit players but the county board has finally decided to take the right approach and develop homegrown players.

It is very hard to gauge the future, players develop differently and counties develop teams differently. Laois are in the Adam Mangan Final on Saturday id be interested to see do we get a good minor team out of that in the next couple of years.

London have played in as many provincial finals as Kildare this decade.

In 5 years I think Dublin will be red hot favourites and Cork will be the second best.

kerry will get even better in the coming years, cork could be the team of the future, kildare have the players and now have the manager, westmeath and laois are also improving but the question is how much scope is there for either, galway should be doing better to, donegal will get better as will armagh, my super 8 next year, kerry, cork kildare dublin, donegal, armagh, galway and mayo [maybe]

Dublin domination will continue. They won't win the All-Ireland every year but they'll win it most years.

I can see Cork doing well in 2-3 years. Some very natural minors yesterday.
Galway have to come good too, 3 minor finals in 4 years, there are footballers coming through
