Studies in rugby reveal that home advantage is worth seven to twelve points - or close to a certain win when Munster play in Thomond Park - and in football (soccer), mathematical equations have been designed that find it worth somewhere between a goal and two, depending on a range of factors including attendance and a team's style of play. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7755 - 11/07/2018 15:36:12 2120754 Link 3 |
I think the general consensus is 3 to 4 points in Gaelic football not sure about hurling. There was a study done in 2012 which showed games between teams competing in the same division over a number of years that showed there was an 81% win rate for the home team. Not sure what the results have been over the last 5 or 6 years but I'd assume similar enough. KY4SAM2015 (Kerry) - Posts: 898 - 11/07/2018 16:18:52 2120767 Link 3 |

How much of an advantage do Kerry have playing only 2 games to reach the Super 8s compared to Donegal's 4? bubba83 (Dublin) - Posts: 333 - 11/07/2018 17:27:07 2120778 Link 10 |
Not nearly as many as the amount of All Irelands it's worth over the course of the history of the GAA when you walk into an AI semi final and have no competition in your province where the counties are too busy playing hurling.

Nobody mentioned Dublin, but i know it must be embarrassing to be favoured with home games more then anyone else. Id probably be a bit paranoid myself. Keep bringing up the excuse of some venue ive never seen ye set foot inside in years and everything will be ok.. KY4SAM2015 (Kerry) - Posts: 898 - 11/07/2018 17:57:25 2120788 Link 4 |

Home advantage is no advantage at all...or so some on here said when they said Kildare shouldn't have fought to play in Newbridge..... KildareKelly (Kildare) - Posts: 593 - 11/07/2018 22:15:44 2120837 Link 3 |

Completely depends on the team and venue. In my opinion even the time of day can change the dynamics of a home field advantage. For example I would much rather travel to play a game in a hostile environment on a Sunday 2pm game than at 7pm under lights on a Saturday night. Overall I would guess around 4 points as stated by another poster above is probable on the ball. white.n.blue (Monaghan) - Posts: 249 - 12/07/2018 18:06:09 2121090 Link 0 |

Studies show if you are a large country, with massive advantages you will allways beat a smaller country with less funding , someone forgot to tell Iceland and Croatia with a combined population of less than six million beating the mega rich English in the last two tournaments Studies also show you will ignore this point through green and gold eye blindness or alternatively post off a smug one liner Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 12/07/2018 18:46:17 2121098 Link 4 |
