Leinster club senior football champions Ballyboden St Enda’s were in ruthless form in their Dubin S1FC first round clash yesterday (Saturday) as they dished out a 2-18 to 0-1 defeat to Templeogue Synge St at Parnell Park.

Having built up a 0-8 to 0-0 lead by the end of the first-half, the holders added goals via Dublin forward Colm Basquel and James Holland on their way to an emphatic 23-point win.

Earlier at Parnell Park, Clontarf scored a 1-17 to 1-13 victory against 11-time champions Kilmacud Crokes.

A first minute goal from Charlie Meehan set the tone for Clontarf, who would go on to hold a 1-9 to 0-5 lead at the half, prior to Dara Mullin pulling back a brilliant goal for Crokes in the second-half.

Minus the services of ace attackers Paul Mannion and Shane Walsh, the Stillorgan side couldn’t get ahead of their fired-up opponents, who saw Jack McCaffrey on the scoresheet for them, as the scores of Luke O’Boyle, Kieran McKeown and Meehan wrapped up their win.

In O’Toole Park, Ballinteer St John's edged a 1-20 to 2-16 victory over Whitehall Colmcille, with substitute Patrick Coleman netting the winners’ goal in the closing 10 minutes, while St Judes saw off Lucan Sarsfields by 1-19 to 1-11 at the same venue.

There are two more games on the schedule this afternoon at O’Toole Park, with St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh taking on Castleknock (2pm) before Cuala meet Ballymun Kickhams (4pm).
