Brendan Cummins has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Waterford senior hurling manager's post.

The legendary Tipperary goalkeeper was tipped to take over from the departed Peter Queally after stepping down as Tipp U20 manager last week.

During his five-year tenure, Cummins led the Premier U20s to All-Ireland success last year and to two Munster titles in 2024 and '25. Tipp  also contested this year's Munster final, only to lose to eventual All-Ireland champions Clare in an penalty shootout.

Cummins clarified his position on The Sunday Game last night: "Well, the message is I'm not going to be managing any team in 2027, anyway!

"I'd five amazing years with the Tipperary U20s. I felt going into the role that...look, I'd seen Tommy Dunne and Liam Cahill do it.

"Look, you always feel you've a debt - I always found, anyway - Tipperary had been so good to me that I'd do something back, and I did. I'd a great five years."
