Gardaí have launched an investigation into the ugly scenes which marred the end of last Sunday’s Wexford SFC final.
Castletown Liam Mellows secured back-to-back titles and their 14th in all after overcoming Shelmaliers by 0-14 to 1-7 at Chadwicks Wexford Park. However, their victory was marred by a post-match brawl in which a teenager was among those to receive injuries. Order was eventually restored before the winners were presented with the silverware.
Wexford CCC are expected to carry out a separate investigation on receipt of the referee’s report.
