Second-half goals send Ballinamore SOH into Leitrim SFC decider

Ballinamore Sean O'Heslins came from behind to defeat Mohill 3-13 to 2-10 in Carrick-on-Shannon yesterday to secure their place in the Leitrim senior football championship final.

Brian Leyden found the net early for Ballinamore, but Mohill responded strongly, with Keith Beirne and Keith Keegan getting on the scoresheet as the sides were level at 1-2 apiece after 10 minutes.

Mohill took control before half-time and led by three at the break, 1-7 to 1-4.

The advantage was extended to six points early in the second-half when Mohill found the net again, but Ballinamore responded immediately as Michael McKiernan raised the green flag in the 47th minute.

Michael Leydon then struck the victors' third goal with 10 minutes remaining to put them firmly in control.

Late points by McKiernan and Paul Honeyman completed a superb comeback as Ballinamore ran out six-point winners and booked their place in the decider where they'll face either holders Leitrim Gaels or Fenagh St Callin's who clash this afternoon at Pairc Sean MacDiarmada (4pm).
