Anthony Burns and Vince Morgan netted the goals as Loughrea defeated Slaughtneil by 2-22 to 0-15 at Parnell Park this afternoon to advance to the All-Ireland club senior hurling championship final for the first time in 19 years.

After an airtight opening 25 minutes in the capital saw the teams’ level on 0-8 apiece, the Galway champions registered their first goal via Burns are the corner-forward cut in from the right and buried the sliotar to the Derry men’s net.

That saw Loughrea moving towards a 1-9 to 0-10 lead at half-time and they’d enjoy a good start to the second-half, with Burns putting them three up and then Morgan hitting the jackpot for them again.

The cracking strike (watch it below) saw Morgan racing past his man a rifling the sliotar to the roof of the net.

From there, Loughrea would add another 10 points to their tally to win out by 13 and move on to a Croke Park date against the winners of this afternoon’s other semi-final between Ballygunner and St Martin’s (3.30pm).

The only thing marring the result Tommy Kelly’s was the straight red card issued to Cullen Killeen in the game’s latter stages after the midfielder was penalised for a careless pull on opponent Brendan Rodgers by referee Johnny Murphy.
