Na Fianna secured their Meath senior football championship status for 2027 with a dramatic 2-10 to 0-13 victory over Simonstown Gaels in Dunganny last night.
Dan Queeney struck an injury-time goal to seal the win and spark jubilant scenes as Na Fianna survived a tense relegation battle.
Na Fianna led 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time, but Simonstown fought back strongly after the break and remained within touching distance heading into the closing stages.
With Simonstown pushing for the score they needed to stay senior, Na Fianna broke forward and Queeney delivered the decisive blow after a long ball into the Gaels' square from Ethan Devine was sent to the back of the net in the added miniutes.
The victory keeps Na Fianna in the Keegan Cup race for next season, while Simonstown make the drop to the Intermediate ranks.
