Tipperary saw off Kilkenny by 2-20 to 2-11 in this afternoon’s charity challenge match at Templetuohy which was played in aid of Mary’s Meals, a charity dedicated to feeding children in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Two experimental sides lined out at the Tipperary venue, where goals from James Walsh (Kilmacow) and Marty Murphy (Tullogher Rosbercon) would give Kilkenny a 2-7 to 0-8 lead at the half.

Tipp started the second-half in impressive fashion however, landing a couple of early points through Billy Seymour and Charlie Ryan before netting two goals in the space of 90 seconds to surge them clear.

Oisin O’Donoghue, who netted the late crucial score between these two teams in July's thrilling All-Ireland SHC semi-final, grabbed the Liam MacCarthy Cup holders' first major ahead of Kieran McCarthy raising the green flag that put seven between the sides in the 52nd minute.

After that, points from Johnny Ryan and Adam Hall would help round off a nine-point victory for the Liam Cahill's men.
