Two-time Galway All-Ireland SFC winner Paul Clancy has died at the age of 49.
The Maigh Cuilinn clubman won the Sam Maguire Cup with the Tribesmen in 1998 and 2001, along with five Connacht SFC titles during his career.
A talented forward, Clancy helped Maigh Cuilinn to the All-Ireland club intermediate championship crown in 2008 and was also chairman of his home club when they won the Connacht senior title four years ago.
He was previously part of the Galway managerial set-up with Alan Mulholland and also served under Justin McNulty in Laois.
Galway GAA confirmed the news of his passing with the following post this morning:
“It is with immense sadness that we heard about the sad and untimely passing of our former double All-Ireland Senior Football winning player, Paul Clancy.”
