Armagh boss Kieran McGeeney says he anticipates another close battle between his side and Galway this weekend.

Having defeated Monaghan by a dozen points in their opener last Sunday, the Orchard men will look to make it two wins from two in their Division 1 campaign when they welcome Padraic Joyce’s side to the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds tomorrow at 5pm.

Speaking to BBC Sport NI in the build-up to Saturday’s clash in Armagh, McGeeney says his players are expecting a difficult battle with Galway having gone down against old rivals Mayo by a goal on opening weekend.

“It'll be a tough game too, games between ourselves and Galway, there's never much between us, it's always a point either way and they'll be coming to the Athletic Grounds to lay down a marker. We know what's in front of us," he stated.

"I'm happy with the performance (against Monaghan), again I thought we probably had three or four goal chances that we didn't either put over the bar or we missed, but there's still a lot to work on as well."

Armagh are likely to be without full-back Aaron McKay for the showdown, with their manager adding: "Aaron hurt his hand, so we're hoping it'll only be a couple of weeks.

"Just at this time of the year, it's such a compact season, you don't want to be taking chances and probably be pushing bigger injuries further down the line, so we're hoping maybe not next (against Galway), but the week after he'll be fit for it."
