Dr Crokes produced an impressive second-half comeback to defeat Kenmare Shamrocks (1-24 to 2-14) at Fitzgerald Stadium and claim their 15th Kerry senior football championship crown.

Kenmare made a blistering start, with Sean O’Shea landing two two-pointers and David Ciuciu finding the net to help them establish a commanding lead before taking a 1-8 to 0-7 advantage into the break.

Mark O’Shea’s goal two minutes into the second half brought Crokes right back into it, but Ciuciu struck his second major in response as Kenmare continued to lead Kerry ace Sean O’Shea’s scoring keeping them in the driving seat.

However, David Shaw and Tony Brosnan delivered crucial two-pointers as Crokes fought back to level at 1-16 to 2-13 with eight minutes remaining, before Shaw and Brosnan struck again to put the home side firmly in control.

Tom Doyle added a decisive two-pointer to stretch the gap to six, while Kenmare’s task was further complicated by Jack O’Sullivan’s dismissal for a second yellow card as the Killarney side finished strongly to secure victory.
