Whatever about the present, Paul Galvin believes the future is bright for Dublin with rising stars such as Charlie McMorrow, Theo Clancy and Eoin Kennedy in their ranks.

The Dubs looked a pale shadow of their former selves as they suffered an eight-point extra-time defeat to underdogs Westmeath in last Sunday’s Leinster SFC final, but speaking on The View on GAA+, Galvin doesn’t expect them to be down for too long.

“I think there have been worries. They're definitely trying to find themselves and maybe build a new team. They've obviously had issues with the suspensions, so there are fault lines,” the Kerry great said.

“From the start of the season, I wouldn't have been as worried as others because I've seen a lot of them in the club game. Charlie McMorrow is a really good player, All-Ireland club winner. Eoin Kennedy, who is a first cousin of Michael Fitzsimons, is an All-Ireland club winner. Theo Clancy has huge potential and is an All-Ireland club winner.

“The stuff they're bringing through is good stuff. But they're definitely rebuilding and they're vulnerable. [Westmeath] took advantage... but what they have coming through is good stuff.”
