I'm only asking why he was elected. Not about Trump or his character or lack of it. I lived in New Mexico in 2011 and 2012 and some of my old colleagues are paying ridiculous money for healthcare. We have issues with tiered health care system here but it seems a much fairer system in comparison to the U.S.

Exactly. They're uneducated. But just because they don't have a high standard of education doesn't mean they are stupid people. Trump capitalised on their lack of education and naiviety, used the power of television and internet, to sway their opinion and got them to vote for Trump. Arguably the educated left were complacent and stupid by not running better candidates and highlight their own policies, rather than react to most of Trump's abtics and give him even more publicity. They're still in denial that they lost two elections. If they don't learn from their mistakes the Republicans will win the next election after Trump's term in office. 4 years in office but you just need to convince voters for one election day.

I'm afraid that horse has bolted. Mr T and his inner council have persuaded their following that those riots either never happened, or weren't nearly as bad as the Dems made out. Don't for get he has flat earthers in his entourage - and don't forget the congress lady who claimed the Dems were manipulating the storms to wreak more havoc on red states. People actually believe this b

Trump is just a symptom of a lot of things which have gone wrong in the states over the last decade and more. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2248 - 04/03/2025 20:27:10 2594784 Link 1 |
Time will tell on tariffs effect on Ireland. The Pfizer CEO has said that he may try avoid 25% tariffs on pharmaceuticals by moving manufacturing back to USA. That would impact manufacturing in Cork and Newbridge. Pfizer is particularly vulnerable at the moment, with looming patent expirations and declining revenue.

The next move will be Trump doing a 180 on tariffs then claiming he forced the countries to negotiate a better deal that suited America. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 8295 - 04/03/2025 22:33:36 2594807 Link 0 |
Trumps America reminds me of WINNING!!! Trump's economic policies have triggered a massive wave of investment into the U.S. In just six weeks, over $1.7 trillion in private sector investments have been announced. Major deals include: $600 billion from Saudi Arabia. $500 billion from Apple, leading to 20,000 new U.S. jobs. $100 billion from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (TSMC) for chip plants. $40 billion in new U.S. data center projects. $20 billion in foreign investment for American manufacturing. Trump's tariffs are already reshaping global supply chains. Nissan, Honda, and Mercedes-Benz are moving production from Mexico to the U.S. to avoid Trump's 25 percent tariff on vehicle imports. Steel and aluminum tariffs have returned, protecting over one million American jobs from foreign dumping.Stock markets have soared, reaching record highs, while JP Morgan reported its highest-ever annual profit. The administration has also replaced the EB-5 visa program with a new "Gold Card," allowing vetted immigrants to obtain a U.S. green card in exchange for a $5 million investment into the federal budget. Well, you're a prophet. Because the stock market plummeted the last few days, Howard Lutnick, the commerce secretary announced reduced tariffs with Mexico and Canada. Trump follows stock market on a daily basis, and obviously will adjust his tariffs accordingly. He played the same game during his last presidency.

Apple, TSMC investment and US data centre projects are very interlinked with a predicted growth in AI technology, software and hardware, and their bet on it's success. Could well turn out to be even bigger investment if it really takes off, but the investment didn't start when Trump was elected. Hopefully there can be a curb on home users use of AI tech. When you see 'reputable' sites like LinkedIn advising recruitment agencies on the benefits of AI sorting and telling jobseekers not to compile their own CV because AI will do it better job, you'd question how many jobs will be left for real people with a mind of their own.

What a crazy post. Steel and aluminum tariffs will raise prices on manufacturing across the board. Stock markets soared under Biden, and are flat since Trump's presidency as the initial Trump bump has been replaced by Trump slump. No doubt, Trump will tweak his tariffs to calm markets. Car manufacturing coming back to USA is predicted to raise price of average car by 4K. Tesla stock soared after election but now has slumped to pre election levels, and is being targeted by Canadian tariffs as well as facing slumping sales in Europe. Pharmaceutical tariffs of 25% on incoming drugs, which are coming in April, will be passed onto the customer.Trump's golden visa is aimed at attracting Russian oligarchs.

Stock Markets soared under Biden?!? Yes at the END of his Presidency when he was a lame duck. Markets are FORWARD LOOKING and they are DOWN now due to Trump and his tariffs. The Markets don't like uncertainty. So while I agree with Trumps Tariffs I also acknowledge that they will play hell on the Markets til they settle out. Fixing a left wing mess is never painless.

On the other hand, he has Zelensky signing a mineral deal, saying he wants to work towards a deal for peace UNDER Trump's LEADERSHIP. Some 'nasty' straight talking there about 'not having the cards' has proved to be an accurate assessment in just about 4 days.

Zelensky had agreed to the mineral deal before the other day. What's your point?

I really think Lake Ontario should be renamed Lake Buffalo after Canada refused Trump's offer of annexation!

My point is that Trump leveraged a rapid response by pulling war support. Zelensky now wants to work for peace UNDER Trump's LEADERSHIP.
