Replying To BrehonBlonde:  "In fairness I think most of the debate and slagging on here began in repsonse to the Veteran, and his constant preaching about Scotstown having superior coaching structures to everyone else, and doing everything better to everyone else. And no matter what counter argument, even when presented with factual data, he chose to just continue with his usual diatribe."
Well are you saying their coaching models And structures are not superior? A lot of men on here just think bigger numbers = championships… its quite clear to see they do a hell of a lot off the field well

A very provable accusation.

Funny lad, it seems like your are the dunce on this occasion. Scotstown is a village but the draw their players from the United Parishes, Currin and Donegal, with previous raids on Roslea and Kilmore/Drumsnatt. You would need to cop on and realises no one on here falls for your childish defence of the indefensible. Scotstown is a village. The football team is the United Parishes.

That's exactly what I am saying. I've been saying it for months, since the topic first came up here. You keep saying that one of the reasons for Scotstowns success is because kids only play with kids born in the same year, and that younger kids who are better don't play up. That's weight of numbers my friend. Most smaller clubs have to bring players up to be able to field. Other clubs have to amalgamate to even field at juvenile level.

And yes, there is a definite correlation between numbers and championships. But if things aren't done we'll, that link can be broken, and is very hard to repair. Which is why Scotstown will have to manage the transition, when the unusually large number of players in their 30's retire, to be replaced with players who don't appear to be of the same quality.

And yes Scotstown do some things very well. But it's arrogant to believe that you do everything better than everyone else. I think the next 3 - 4 years will tell that tale.

Scotstown didn't win any championship from 1993 to 2012. Their catchment area hasn't increased to contribute to their recent success. The problem is castleblayney their traditional rival have declined, the two other major urban areas Monaghan town and Carrick haven't been able to fill the void. Clontribret, magheracloone, ballybay and latton have punched above their weight on a few occasions to upset the applecart. Crossmaglen had a similar period on dominance in Armagh as did Bellaghy in Derry they have now fallen from grace. Scotstown have been very fortunate to have the services of a golden generation of players like the Hughes, Rory, McCarthy and Carey all coming along at the same time. The landscape of Monaghan club football will be very different in the next 5 years.

You are showing yourself up here! Not able to understand a village and parish… tydavnet parish … many villages! Haha like a child telling folklore how the men of scotstown went around with pitchforks raiding parishes… little oriel boy! Do you need a step up to your high stool?

I wouldn't be comparing scotstowns domination to that of Crossmaglen. When Cross had those x factor players they coukd win ulster's and all irelands...

Comparing that great cross team to the scotstown team of the last 10 years is like comparing apples to oranges…. Wouldnt lace their boots…scotstown winning a county championship is on par with Dublin winning Leinster….both incredible achievements…

Championship final weekend coming up, for me I don't see clontibret overthrowing the united parishes and haven't heard much saying differently. The intermediate final also on the same weekend so should be a good one for match goers, plenty of games to be seen, this game should be a bit closer then the senior final but I'm going to say magheracloone for this one.

Game of the weekend could be the Minor final between Harps and the United Parishes. The super club will probably shade it. I fancy Truagh to win the Intermediate final with a bit to spare.

Intermediate is about who shows up on the day. Both teams have had good and bad days in the championship so far. Both teams played badly against Blayney but maybe this was the defensive set up by Blayney. Magheracloone have quality throughout. Truagh will rely on Mohan and one or two others to be the difference.

In the senior, United Parishes just about but I wouldn't put it past McManus and co. to deliver an upset. A lot of Clontibret lads could be thinking this is their last final. Nothing to lost and a lot of gain...

The currin man will tip the balance in scotstowns favour yet again in a county final….. if the threemilehouse brothers also perform its curtains for clontibret….

I find the infighting on this thread to be mad. Like you for example, Tom, are on every other forum ridiculing their setups - I noticed you recently on the Leitrim Forum laughing at their search for another manager - yet you and your own county men are at each others throats here. The future isn't bright for your lot, if this is anything to go by. You'll have to stick to supporting Cavan Gaels next year, maybe.
