Replying To Eddie the Exile:  "Very disappointing lineup given the circumstances. How many times do Jack and McManus need to start together to prove it can't work? It was an opportunity to go Mooney Woods and Jones up front with McManus in reserve. A shot to nothing.
No KDuffy or O Connell either leaving the whole thing looking threadbare. Dessie Ward missing leaves a massive gap too."
That not even close to the starting lineup.

Im noting the fact last year they were unavailable due to been country tied.. technically this year they are eligible for club selection.... They finished bottom last year in the league.. this year are top... what's happened? Forget about the amount of players.. if clubs can't beat Scotstown the time of year what hope have they later in the champ

Biggest disappointment has been Blayney in Intermediate. What's gone wrong with them? Probably too good to go Junior but nowhere near winning an Intermediate. I seen Tyholland conceded to Truagh last week, are they throwing in the towel already? I know they were going to be up against it this year in Intermediate but not a great sign at this early stage.

Aghabog have made an impressive start to the year. My blade does the post down there reckons there's big work being put in."
Heard last week Aghabog have the Scotstown S&C coach overseeing things the past two years.
Shrewd move by them boys, Paying dividend.

Donaghmoyne seem to have started well but they usually flatter to decieve in championship. The demise of Blayney has been remarkable, you'd have to wonder how it has come to this. Even in the past 10 years they have had competitive juvenile teams but at adult it has been desperate stuff."
Hard to see scotstown getting beat which given the sheer numbers they have is understandable…however , if anything happens the currin man it will bring them well back into the pack…seen a lot of intermediate football this year and given the poor sun-standard nature of it, blaneys demise is even more remarkable….

Should we win today and unless we overturn our score difference with Louth, we will face Tyrone, Galway/Armagh loser, or Dublin/Mayo loser away in Prelim. Quarter Final. Pick our poison.

Maybe I'm mad but I really like that starting 15 (named). Nice blend of youth and experience in defence and moving O'toole to half back has to be applauded. Obviously ward starts all day every day if he's fit... That's the only shoe in for me

That ol expression comes to mind, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.... To be fair if I was managing I'd be trying to get my two best and most accurate forwards playing together... I think with Jack and mansy we need to target frees and marks though because neither has that pace (anymore) to be winning too many balls

There will be changes and I'd be happy enough to see Jones and / or woods start too

No major need to over analyse today's team/game etc. because outside of clare, Meath are the weakest team in the Sam maguire so on that fact alone we will get away with playing jack and Conor together… both could run up a big tally today…we should be beating Meath comfortably…

Coming 2nd not exactly inviting either facing Derry, Roscommon or Cork… wouldn't mind a rattle at Galway/ Armagh or Tyrone away … no pressure at all

Disagree. Meath are in a terrible place but that Monaghan named team will give them a chance to get into a game. Zero pace up front. Zero.
Keegan is still top notch and will hold McManus. That will give Meath confidence especially if Jack does the usual and slows the game to a crawl.
Ronan Jones back at midfield, expect a few goal chances to come through the middle now that OToole is at 6. O Sullivan will wander and leave the middle open. Lavelle will have his hands full with Costello who is a fair operator. I'd expect Jordan Morris will be thrown in to give them pace and an extra goal threat.

Prediction is we will see a very cagey opening 20 with Monaghan playing glacial football, Meath will begin to think 'here we could have a go here', a goal or 2 in first half will panic Monaghan who will then struggle to pick up the pace. A string of wides will suck the oxygen out of the whole thing. Vinny will wait until too late to change the forwards by which time a 4-5 point Meath lead will feel unassailable. Any progress to closing the gap will be finished off by a 3rd Meath goal late on.
I'm normally optimistic but the pattern is so predictable. Vinny can change all that bit will he?

Meath at 11/4 are value today.

A wins a win… go into next weekend with everyone writing us off! Lots of postitive today .. 2nd half Meath we're just shocking and the lads took the foot off the gas! Bring on next weekend and go at whoever we get ..

Will obviously take the win but my god!
That's as bad a team in the country and they still pushed us towards the end.
We are so cautious in attack, so lateral in our play. I'd love to know what's being coached, is the style of play a management or player issue?

An OK win against what was an average Meath team, threw away a home game next weekend by not being able to play a full 70 minutes football which will be a must next weekend

A win at long last, principally due to a very powerful 3rd quarter. So good performances from a number of players.
But in the name of all that's good and holy, this nonsense with Beggan and conceding outfield possession leading to opposition goals has to stop.
We're off to Galway, Myo or (groan) Tyrone next week who could take us to pieces if this carry-on persists...and if we switch off like we did at the end there, well, the scoreline could be embarrassing.

A wins a win but christ that was awful. Meath were terrible only played for 15 mins and will consider themselves unlucky to be gone. Can only think monaghan are set up to play the better sides. They blew any chance of a quarter final in that last quarter as kerry hammered louth.

Beggan didn't kick the ball away? Scotstown wouldn't have contested an Ulster final for him.. still living in the 70s? Kick it out and high and long .. goalkeepers just there for saving the ball eh
