Mayo are miles behind. I expect them to beat Galway tomorrow because it's a local derby that normally can go anywhere. There are 3 very strong teams up north, Galway in the West and Kerry in the south. Dublin will improve but I can't see them making the final. It really is very open. It's a strange thing to say but it's probably Kerry's and Galways last chance under their current mgt. Could the ex Kerry manage Peter Keaney pull a stroke and beat Kerry. They are coming in well under the radar eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 2095 - 03/05/2025 12:11:59 2606406 Link 0 |
I cant see it tbh.I think Kerry in Killarney are too strong for Clare albeit we have a few players missing re injury and suspension.Unless Kerry get a grip on 2 pointers (defending them aswell as scoring them) I cant see them winning the big prize. My own fancies are Galway and Donegal but Tyrone have such classy forwards and a strong midfield they always have a chance.

I know well Mick. One of my best friends is a Kerryman .A diehard Kerryman and we often sit beside each other at Dub Kerry games. Afterwards we have a few pints together. We not too bad in Dublin either lol.

Good win by under 20s over Offaly who had Screeney for whole game. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3493 - 05/05/2025 16:26:20 2606877 Link 1 |
Superb win Barney - the Cats up next. Laois v Galway in the other semi final. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4223 - 05/05/2025 22:05:06 2606950 Link 1 |
Hard to call. First good performance really and missing Purcell. Like Seniors they are starting to go more direct. Saturday is most important game of year in Belfast. Win and qualification is certain just on head to head alone. Antrim will give them plenty but Dublin be well able for that. Comfortable enough win if heads are right. Talk of a double header on Sat 17th in Salthill - Galway v Antrim in the hurler followed by Galway v Dublin in the football. Not overly confident of getting a result down there to be honest but here's hoping. Mayo rattled Galway at the weekend but Galway still with an all star cast to come back into the team. For one awful moment i thought id read double header in Salthill with OUR hurlers! Like the idea of footballers having this as first game. Lets face it if they are going to even reach semi they need to be winning games like that against the top guns. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3493 - 07/05/2025 13:45:51 2607357 Link 0 |
Yep agree Berney, its now time to stand up or shut up!

Last years quarter final collapse should give us plenty of motivation also.Dublin can win this game.

I think we can given pre that QF last year a few of our lads were ill for a few days. However we've lost some serious talent from that side also so getting injured lads back for the next day is absolutely crucial.

We have a very different team this year though. 1/3 are gone...... Not sure how our midfield will cope in this one tbh. ;o( Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4223 - 07/05/2025 15:47:10 2607408 Link 0 |
It is big ask but it should be. Will be better with Bulger and McMahon and hopefully Murchan back. And fit Smalls after first day out. They could lose badly to Galway of course and maybe to Ulster runner up by head to head with Derry but that would be humiliating i think. Don't tell me ye're turning into Kerrymen! I'd be very surprised if Dublin were to lose badly in Salthill. The same as I thought the Mayo game would go down to the wire. Our comeback win in Croker last year was our first championship win against the Dubs since you were only a gasúir Barney. It hasn't become a habit all of a sudden. We're strong enough to be competitive in any game, and we do have enough to win if we play well. But likewise, I'd be expecting a very different Dublin performance to the no-show against Meath. Minor footballers walloped this evening by Louth in Leinster semi. What is going on at underage level?! We can already see a major shortage of talent coming through at senior level but there's no sign of much coming below I'm afraid.
