It was always going to be a hard ask for Delvin after the week they had and to start without Dean Ennis, Josh Coll, Adam Ennis and Alan Cox was always going to be an uphill battle. If Westmeath want clubs to represent them properly in Leinster they will have to take this into account in future Masters fixtures list. 3 big matches in 7 days inc extra time is a big ask for any team not to mention final celebrations !

Is our senior hurling final at risk on Monday with the current weather and 3 games on beforehand?
Would be very unfair on our players to have to put it off another week

Weather not great but unless it gets really bad play somewhere call.off it again would be joke in my opinion as next weekend not suppose to be great either then leinster is on the week after.

It was mentioned on the podcast last night that the minor football final could have a change of venue but will go ahead.

There was 1 senior B hurler on the county football panel, this seems to be the reason that the senior B championship couldn't start earlier, but there were 2 rounds of football played 2 weekends in a row, that was the opportunity to play the hurling finals a week earlier.
Cox had to go back to work in Dubai, D.Ennis was on holidays, Adam and Josh were injured. Aaron Craig didn't start for Shandonagh today either, leg was heavily strapped.
Fair effort from Delvin without the missing lads.

Would have won with a bit to spare i think if they had those four lads, such is their influence on the Delvin team. All county standard hurlers. Great effort nonetheless!

Volunteers needed to take and fork pitch after todays game.

Repeat of last years 2nd encounter of these two tens, Gaels to be close up until 40 minute mark where Castletown pull away when it opens up. 5-7 point win for castletown

I'm torn on who's going to win. Ctg still have no answer for Jogger but Llg will need more from the other forwards to win. Two quality teams going at it again. Hope it's another great game and I think Llg will win by 1.

Well done Castletown, commiserations LLG. Disgrace the players being asked to play a county final in those conditions.

Castletown 9 point winners, went as I expected it to. I felt having the semi final under their belt the first day stood to the gaels but Castletown were primed for the game today and didn't let the weather conditions deter them. The Gaels put in a huge effort again and will be disappointed to have lost 3 finals in a row and that's the cruelty of sport as CTG know too well!

Brilliant performance by Castletown clearly the better team today. The Gaels far too dependant on David Williams.
I posed the question after the drawn game was the Castletown half forwards past their best? Well the answer could not have been clearer,to a man magnificent.
No consolation to the Gaels but they have been top class and great credit to them
Castletown have very little time to go to O Moore Park to play a very good Clough Ballacolla but they have the panel and quality to have a real go.

How is it a disgrace? 15-16 County finals played over weekend nationally. It was a replay too so surely that's a consideration. When should it be played? Some lads here just love whinging

Quality of hurling was very good in difficult conditions although pitch has held up remarkably well considering all the matches and crowds post match. Morgan Gavigan, Shane Clavin, Johnny Bermingham, Peter Clarke, Peter Murphy and Jack Gallagher all hurled well for Castletown, Shane Williams, Micheal Daly, David Williams and Dan Higgins for the Gaels. Free taking was tough with wet ball, great crowd in attendance

The state of the pitch, not suitable for a game of hurling. Footballers were out of the Championship on June 15. The question needs to be asked. How have we gone so far into October with the club championships? Board needs to do better, players deserve better.

You obviously are not involved with a club or you wouldn't come out with such ramblings. We are a dual county, likes of Luke Loughlin and Ciaran Nolan played seven football championship matches plus five hurling championship games and their hurling ended at round robin stage. Morgan Gavigan and Shane Clavin and other Malachy's lads played six football championship matches and seven hurling championship games. There were finals in Cusack yesterday and on Saturday, there was a senior hurling final there 8 days ago, two adult hurling finals nine days ago. There were county finals over this weekend in London, Antrim, Offaly, Laois, Dublin, Kerry, Louth, Mayo, Galway, Cork, Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny, Down, Wexford, Fermanagh, Roscommon, Monaghan, Sligo, Armagh, Tyrone and Meath. Extraordinary how over 20 counties can get it so wrong!!!! We've had the best quality and most exciting series of finals in both codes in years, excitement levels on Saturday, yesterday and today were huge, we've also had great crowds in attendance at every final and likely to be a big crowd at junior finals next weekend. Surely that's deserving of praise or recognition for the players, officials and even the county board for once??
