I heard the same thing a couple of day's ago and good luck to him. One thing for sure is unlike others he is not doing it to become rich. PS. It's possible there may be another bit of unrelated news to follow. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3050 - 23/08/2024 08:27:15 2566388 Link 0 |
There's more culture in yoghurt than there is where you live. And you're calling the ancient game of hurling 'stick fighting?" Tie your kangaroo down, sport. CARPS (Carlow) - Posts: 727 - 23/08/2024 09:32:24 2566393 Link 1 |
Hard to see this appointment not going through, the only insiders would be TOB and Joe Murphy. I would assume both were approached, if for no other reason to close off any criticism. It is plausible that neither were interested. Bainisteoir (National) - Posts: 561 - 23/08/2024 13:15:55 2566439 Link 0 |

BTW to all those lauding the new short split season and how it would help develop dual clubs,,st. Mullins were barely able to field a team last night Overthebar53 (Carlow) - Posts: 284 - 24/08/2024 07:54:40 2566519 Link 0 |
You didn't include the reason - but never let the facts get in the way of a specious argument. A number of St Mullins players re-arranged holidays because the county hurling final went to a replay. The club asked for the game to put back a week, but were refused. Given there is 3 weeks between the county final and the Leinster club, there was no reason why the football had to start this week. There should be a three week gap from the hurling finals, to allow for replays and give the dual clubs a chance to get a breather and switch over. The current schedule hands (another) advantage to the likes of Rathvilly, Eire Og, Palatine etc... clubs who don't promote both codes. Haha! Carlow hurlers were knocked out on May 26th and footballers the 1st of June. It took from 8th June - 17th August to play off a hurling championship with 5 or 6 clubs. The SHC has about 10-12 games in total… And the lack of crowds at the games. The football being played over 6 weeks, starting the last week in August… It's hard to believe that the kids/teenagers in these clubs don't get to see their flagship team playing during their summer holidays. Anyone know how the Carlow underage teams did today ? Ben (None) - Posts: 104 - 24/08/2024 16:44:31 2566580 Link 0 |
Exactly, And the poster doesn't even know how many teams are in the SHC. It was 14. Because the final required a replay. The football will have 17, or possibly 18 if the decider ends in a draw. Not exactly a huge difference there. CARPS (Carlow) - Posts: 727 - 24/08/2024 16:52:49 2566582 Link 0 |
U/16 hurlers beat Clare's third team but then lost to Wicklow by 8 which is pretty scary for our future hurling prospects.

Talking to Mlr supporter they had to field at least 9 juniors tonight against Btown as many seniors rescheduled holidays due to replay. Only allowed 6 days gap from last Sundays final, crazy setup considering how much they've given o carlow over the past years, (St Mullins got 5 days which is even worse).. surely they could have fitted those games in next Wednesday to allow some time to recover. No doubt the co board will give those clubs a few bob from the replay income to compensate the holidays rescheduling. Four drab, but Massive credit to mlr who were v v unlucky not to get a result, must be concerning for btown who looked clueless at times.
