Replying To Dualclub1:  "Really frustrated with this, Our Senior Hurlers are constantly punching above their weight and are prepared so well, then you have the group (u20) that should be feeding into this not being prepared correctly. There was no ambition with the appointment of the management, it was just convenient for the co board to appoint them. For some of our stronger u20 hurlers not to be allowed play with the county is just disgraceful given the limited numbers we have. Are the county board blind to all of this??"
The manager of that side has worked for the county board for nearly 30 years. Can anyone point to a single coaching accomplishment during that time?

Plenty of rumours swirling about ... believe none of what you hear and half what you see .... generally will see you right in my experience

Yes you could be right on that. Mick kehoe trained them last night. So maybe he will be the interim manager

This is an excellent point, carps.I have noted this myself for several years now. There seems to be no minimum standard, no performance review, no critical evaluation, just reappointment and rinse and repeat every year.Is it any surprise that things have come to this sorry state.

I hope that's true. It would be a great outcome, albeit only temporary.

Replying To Onion Breath:  "We play both Wexford and Wicklow in a few weeks time. As in recent years the three of us are deliberately kept apart from the rest of Leinster in the draw as a type of development group but it is the A championship with top two making quarter finals. For the rest of Leinster group winners make the semi. Today was a separate shield competition for the same teams but with Kilkenny added. Kilkenny are not in the A championship matches."
Makes you wonder should carlow be in the A championship?

Murphy has gotten the senior job just confirmed on Twitter . Be interesting to see who's coming in with him and if any players who've left will go back in. Good appointment though, probably should've happened earlier

Hope he stays longterm
He is the man for the job
Beggars belief as to why it took this crisis to get on board

Brilliant news. Finally we have a proper manager. I see he's left Naas to take this which is a big surprise to me. So hopefully it turns into more than an interim appointment. Over to the county board to back him now and make sure they keep him and the players to give it everything. They'll never play under a better Carlow manager.

ya the reports seem to have him as the former Naas manager now (they have a League game at the weekend) - I'm sure they are over the moon up there now over that !!

Certainly Murphy will have a huge amount of goodwill in the county, esp given the high regard he is held in. However, its a results business and i'm sure he is well aware of that, and it wont take long for the critics to emerge - wait for the EO favoritism etc.

I see he is described as the interim manager, given he has been reported as stepping away from Naas, it is plausible to think there is a fair chance he will stay on for next season. I personally think he has the nucleus of a decent side there ( he is wily enough to know that) and whatever about Meath, it will be the Tailteann where he can make a mark over the next few months. There are a few guys travelling etc which if returned for next season would strengthen the panel further.

It is a shame that it takes a 'crisis' for an experienced manager to emerge in Carlow, on this occasion he is a successful native - these guys are few and far between. There is a huge level of expectation around this appointment, so I can only wish him the best.

Definitely not the case and I have that from a couple of sources. He leaves with their genuine best wishes but they wanted him to stay and were open to him double jobbing as they reckoned Carlow's TC season will end before Kildare's so the the time would be there to prepare Naas for the Kildare championship.

I notice in his interview with Independent yesterday, Mikie Bambrick said some players had now rejoined the panel. Does anyone know who he was referring to?

Some of the players who walked away when Curran was manager are now back in.
