What a match in Cavan we probably had to win it a few times and would be cursing our luck and the official for some odds decisions had we not won but thankfully we got what we deserved out of the game and are into the All Ireland semi final in two weeks against Tyrone. Well done to all the Roscommon players and management. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 4076 - 07/06/2025 21:32:37 2615622 Link 2 |
We missed a few chances near the end but this team is brave and they dug out the result as they did in the Connacht Final. Tyrone will be tough opponents in the semi final but it's great to have Roscommon in a semi final. The red hands beat us in 2013 in the minor semi final in Croke Park and also beat us in a couple of U21/20 semis since so we owe them one.

I was at the minor match in Cavan and I have to say it was some performance from the team. I would say every player stood up to be counted on the day. Initially what stood out to me was how good the boys pressed Louth, never giving allowing them to relax. Some inspirational moments, some near misses, some mistakes. This game had it all. imformed (Roscommon) - Posts: 198 - 08/06/2025 09:03:07 2615691 Link 0 |
A concern I had going in to the Louth match is that Roscommon might have been undercooked. We finished the Connacht Round Robin on April 11 and played the Connacht Final on May 9. This team had only one competitive match in 8 weeks. The Connacht Council will need to look at that scheduling. The game and extra time last night should bring Roscommon on. Roscommon though will need to be a lot better and more clinical as you say to challenge what seems to be a really good Tyrone team in the semi final.
