I said that on another post. There is a video that shows it didn't go that high at all and was just inside the post. Was in line with black part of top of post.Something very strange.

Is there anything in the incident that looks deliberate?? I would say absolutely not.

Armagh player messes up dropping kick out, Finnerty does well gets to it first is fouled gets up kicks it over the bar.

This was not mckinless stamping on comer or ROD kicking Kelly's ankle territory.

No different to what happened grugan in second half there is a possibility we targeted him and deliberately injured him but again I would say no way that is true.

Now the original poster is alleging I'm from Armagh although been on this forum on off for 10 years plus posting purely about Galway football /hurling and club it's desperate clutching at straws."
Fair enough, I don't think we can be sure either way, but defenitely no evidence it was deliberate, I agree.

I would love to see him stay but maybe hes thinking this week has he brought this team as far as he can? Heard this was cian o neills final year anyway regardless of result pity to see him go."
I'd like to see Joyce remain on and Kelly to remain captain. They've built something really special there together that I would like to gain more momentum . This time played their worst and still only lost by a point - so despite all the players injuries, we reached the all Ireland final, so I would love to see them go next year without the injuries. That would be powerful. Onwards and upwards. This could be something very special this time next year if they come back next year.

The only thing strange is that the GAA continues with the ridiculous idea that the referee can bring along 4 of his buddies to officiate on the biggest sporting day of the year…. bonkers stuff and you wouldn't see it in any other sport anywhere in the world…!

Galway lost by a point on Sunday."
I accept that.

But Galway went in as favorites, Galway had the experience going into the final having put up a great show against Kerry in '22, I am pretty certain Galway feel like they didn't perform to the best of their ability and are utterly deflated after it.

I think all those factors are similar to ourselves in '21.

Conor Flaherty surely needs to play a few games in goal for someone before he's an option as first choice?

In the 2022 All Ireland Hurling Semi final, Conor Whelan put over a point that was called wide by hawkeye. I was directly behind it, it clearly went straight through the posts

After that I have always doubted it heavily

Ronan Glennon had a suspect one that day too. Play had gone on a good bit afterwards before called back as a wide

It's well informed and it is in no way designed to be subtle! Listen, all moaning and winding up aside, there is - as you'd expect - huge frustration on Galway's part at messing up this golden opportunity and I genuinely don't begrudge Armagh this All-Ireland. These are precious and rare days and they're to be enjoyed. Armagh GAA people have had to put up with more than their fair share of challenges over the years, it has helped give you lads a steel and resilience that got the Orchard over the line on this occasion and hats off to that. We'll wallow here for a while, look for reasons why and ways to rebuild, and next thing our clubs will be back in action and we'll be grand again! That's the GAA, that's sport. We'll move on and, seriously, go and enjoy the celebrations and don't mind me and the rest of us Galway diehards here while we go through our football DTs!!

Just hope all the players will commit again for next year, defensively Galway have so many options. They have 10/11 players for 6 positions. D'Arcy has shocked me, didn't think he had it in him but he looks so comfortable since he got to Croke Park. Just hope James McLaughlin takes a leaf out of D'Arcy & Maher, he's definitely more talented then both but its clear he doesn't work hard enough from the game I've seen of him. You could see in some of those Sigerson games the lad can kick scores with both feet from distance.

Lets hope Sam O'Neill can stay and kick on but most importantly we need Conroy to stay on. Interested to see how Patrick Egan does for Corofin too, Galway have plenty of options around the middle though and there's also the possibility of Cooke to come back.

We all know where the issues are, we need new blood in the forwards; We really need Culhane to stay injury free, he's the natural replacement for Comer in the full forward line but has been another one who has missed so much football the last few years through injury. I'd expect O'Conghaile & O'Curraoin to kick on after their first year on the panel.

Can't think of any other forwards who aren't on the panel but look at the way Maher & D'Arcy have left the panel and come back a lot stronger, a lesson to other it hasn't worked out for.

CON is a huge loss. Divo is good but as for another school buddy in the ranks, it's just not good enough, and our forwards are clearly demonstrating the sheer lack of elite forwards coaching. I'm sick saying it. It's as clear as day. If a top class forwards coach had that group of talented players, I'm convinced we'd land 4, 5 or 6 more scores per game. We leave so much after us with the rubbish, predictable, slow, lateral build up and then poor shot selection as the true openings so rarely open! We can do so much better with our forwards. Get a first rate forwards coach in. Otherwise, I guarantee you, we'll come up short again.

Galway will take quite some time to recover from Sundays result especially after the lack of decision making on the sideline probably cost a title for the second time in 2 years, S Walsh should have been relived of the free taking duties by the time he declined to take a shot from a free that on a less pressured day he would kick over at ease. This follows 2022 when most observers I have spoken to since ,failed to understand why E Gallagher was not used instead of one of the first time championship subs tried out in that final. Kickable frees left behind on Sunday, 2022 was crying out for a player who would take take on the Kerry tiring defence but that option was declined.I hope we can get back to Croke Park again final day during this decade but that is a difficult recovery.

Thats a difficult call. Each referee tends to have their own set of buddies who help them out throughout the year. Its hard to drop them when it comes to big inter county matches, as they might not be too willing to help out again in the rain of January/February. One suggestion might be that there is some training and testing that they should undergo before they are approved to officiate at big games. Those loyal servants who fail this test ( including eyesight test) are replaced by experienced refs and as compensation for their demotion are rewarded by premium quality seats at the big games. But I fully agree that Hawkeye is flawed..even the graphics leave a lot to be desired . The trajectory plotter sometimes looks contrary to the NIL/TA

It's the opposite to well informed.

You accuse me of been from Armagh just because I disagreed with your ramblings which you have no evidence to back up and I mentioned cricket laughable stuff.

Been on this forum long before you talking all things Galway.

You claim to know what going through management heads even though Joyce has forgotten more about football then you will ever know.

Sunday was a rubbish day but can only agree move onto club and hope the players who have OPs and procedure to go through recover well and are not rushed back for their clubs.

Big club season for Tomo been around long enough now and if Finnerty is gone will have to lead line.

They have power and murphy too who have around senior panel too and sweeney Maher oflaherty around middle id have them as biggest threat to Corofin

Don't know what going on at training but thought dropping of ocurrain odd as he's also a decent free taking option.

While having Daly at 26 who is highly unlikely to get game time when we have loads of midfield cover and his experiment at 14 didn't work.

Hindsight but prob better off bringing on tomo when Finnerty went off.

Although we have built the panel if any other player from 8 to 15 went off injured after 10 minutes Sunday it would still have been Heaney coming on.

After all the talk about having a better bench than 2022, we had no inside forward who Joyce trusted to score.
OCurraoin was very good in the league against Dublin and his main attribute is points from distance from play and frees. Has he been injured? I did worry a bit before the match when I saw our subs, there wasn't much of a scoring threat.
I don't know why Daly wasn't brought on instead of Molloy. Daly isn't afraid to use his boot.
If Cian O'Neill is gone as rumoured then it's a huge blow.
Galway's defence is the reason they won all them matches because the scoring was barely high enough to win matches. An overhaul of the coaches is needed.

I've been thinking about what could have been done differently. When it became clear Peter Cooke wasn't available the player we needed to carry on the panel was Barry McHugh. I believe he remains the best free taker in the county. He can also lead the front line and would been a massive addition. He is still a young man and I'll be interested to see him in this years club championship.
