Good question. I hope we are still in. The more matches the better as it will help settle out who plays and who doesn't come the Championship.

Think it goes to points difference so Offaly have to win tomorrow by 14 and would top group.

Don't think head-to-head comes into play (but might be wrong) as they would all cancel one another out if three teams on 4 points.

they looked heavy legged..but that be the case in april..
unlike last year when we played our best hurling in the league and peaked too early..
shefflin and co wont make that mistake this year..
youll see a few new faces in the league..
im expecting eanna burke to get a run of games hopefully after yesterday..outstanding
like his brothers.,conor cooney and i thought fintan was brill in the full back line..

henry has a massive squad of players to choose from.,all about getting the balance right..
im very confident of a much better year then the previous 2..

I'd imagine he'd need to. I think it's 83 players have seen some game time during the Walsh Cup. Would need to cut that back a bit for the league and probably back a bit more for the championship

Well now that the St Thomas's lads are back I guess they'll be pushing some lads out of the way for spots.

10 East Galway Clubs to reject new proposal format from the hurling board for the 2022 Senior and Intermediate Club Championship.

I laughed at the statement, why would college lads travel back for intermediate aura around it. To the 10 clubs including my own, When all is said and done, your club isnt fit for senior and shouldnt be there, you are going to be relegated if not this year but sometime soon. What will be your excuse then?

Shur your own club is hardly fit for Intermediate as it is ;)

On a more serious note, there was a huge element of self - preservation running through the theme of the speeches made (as you would expect) but there has to be more to it than that if they expect to be taken seriously.

our greatest defender, and second best player ever, is our new captain.

Laughable to read their statement. About 8 of those 10 actually perform at junior level, and have for quite a while now. Chop them out of Senior as fast as possible, and try to
develop a good senior club championship (16 is even too many; should be just 12 top teams).

Good move making Daithi Burke captain; fine hurler and great man for the big occasion.

The proposal to get rid of the teams who won't win ever is the right job. As I said before Galway hurling is the triangle of loughrea athenry and gort and the clubs in between. With a couple of minor tweaks. Far East Galway clubs need to improve themselves rather than let the standard drop their level.
Also great move with the captain and vice captain of Galway. Brilliant decision by Henry. Well done.

Any club with a real interest in development should want their teams to be playing in a competitive competition.
What's the point of them hanging on as bottom rung teams in a bloated senior championship? Is it purely the label of being able to call themselves 'senior' clubs?
That's all I can read from it. It seems to be a status thing.
That's an incredibly weak argument and one that does very little to help their own improvement.
It would be far more beneficial for their own development to be playing games against teams on a similar level, where they have an actual attainable goal of improving and eventually pushing for promotion.
Their argument that players won't travel to play for an 'intermediate' team is actually demeaning and complete nonsense. By that logic, every club should be a senior team, if it's the status that matters.

Maybe the hurling board could let a combined East Galway team consisting of 10 Clubs enter the Championship at the knockout stages? Or would the developing Mega Super Clubs object to this!!
