Shoddy reporting even today re.Mick Burns RIP, claiming that 1958 to 1968 is a 10 year period, when you don't need to be a mathematician to realise that's it's an 11 year period. Divil is in the detail!!

Yet a certain ex Rugby International had 133m wrote off and no one batted an eyelid. All outrageous but the hypocrisy is galling.

Depends how paranoid you are. A story about a GAA players debts written down isn't necessarily an anti-GAA story.

No but plenty of other high profile athletes got write downs. Anyway I don't condone what Mr Carey did. And am not a KK fan.

Whats the story with RTE? Limerick v Clare not on TV I put on RTE radio1 and it had some Scotland v Ireland ladies rugby on. Derry v Monaghan also not on actually zero GAA on today. brisbane (Galway) - Posts: 675 - 29/04/2023 20:32:37 2474577 Link 3 |
Honestly i could have cried when they switched over from the hurling to the womens rugby. The commentary would put you to sleep. That rugby match on tele too. Mind boggling. No saturday game highlights show tonight either.

A lot of complaints over past few years about games on Sky and where will the auld lads watch it....down the pub etc... Where did they watch it tonight? conordee (Galway) - Posts: 451 - 29/04/2023 21:00:32 2474587 Link 3 |
Limerick Clare not on was nothing to do with the rugby on. Either GAA didnt look for it to be televised or any of the rightsholders chose not to show the game It was live on GAAGO KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3746 - 29/04/2023 21:28:29 2474601 Link 1 |
RTE seem to be anti Irish to me, it is absolutely ridiculous but the establishment / ruling classes in this state seem to have been bought and paid for long ago.

He was referring to RTE Radio in his reference to the ladies rugby match, not tv. That was very much an RTE choice. It's a very valid point. Radio 1 had live commentary of the rugby match for large amounts of the hurling. The promotion of women's sport is very important, but this game was a complete dead rubber. A bit of editorial cop on would have had them cover the hurling match, and there would have still been love commentary of a good chunk of the rugby as it finished later. I'd say you are not far off. I don't subscribe to them, so can't really complain :-)

Feel that way myself. I pay almost no heed to the RTÉ and certainly not when it comes to how it presents topical issues, which I personally find to be very selective and propagandist, although I must say I think on the whole their GAA coverage is alot better than people here give them credit for.

I suppose GAAGO has the right to pick some matches too but overall RTE are dire… As for them showing that rugby… don't get me started.. It must be sponsored by Tic Toc to put everyone to sleep

An obsolete 60 year old subscription anyway. RTE whinging about not having money and government raking in licence fees plus VAT on streaming services, podcasts, website subscriptions, hardware, etc that didn't exist pre-internet.

Was reading a tweet from a man who was visiting Meath and wanted to watch Gaa. He asked them to put on the hurling, told they don't have gaago but have sky. He made the point about all the purists who were up in arms about sky deal all shut up now when gaago is not in pubs or anywhere at least with aky deal 90% could get to see match. Terrible change for the worse

And they have a sneaky way of pinching people for not paying it as well. Going after people in household who are not either the house owners, nor the person who previously had a license and stopped paying.
