Carlow made it three wins from three in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League by edging out Tipperary on a 1-17 to 1-14 scoreline in Thurles this afternoon.

Ross Dunphy and Steven O’Brien traded goals in the first-half as Tipp went on to lead by 1-11 to 1-7 at the interval, before the visitors hit the first four scores of the restart unanswered and got over the line thanks to Chris Blake’s two-pointer being backed up by scores from Colum Hulton and Blake (free) again late on.

In Portglenone, Longford got their second win of the campaign by dishing out a 13-point defeat to hosts Antrim.

It finished 1-27 to 1-14 in favour of the Midlanders for whom Matthew Carey starred with 1-9, including a 61st minute goal which put a seal on the victory.

Leitrim also recorded their second win by battling past London (2-19 to 1-20) with a strong second-half display at McGovern Park, Ruislip.

Steven Poacher’s men cancelled out Micheál O’Reilly’s early goal through Fergal McLoughlin but still went on to trail by double figures (1-14 to 1-4) at half-time.

A Tom Prior goal four minutes into the resumption ignited the visitors and a string of two-pointers from substitute Barry McNulty would see them over the line to take home both points.
