Clare picked up their second win in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League by dishing out a 2-30 to 1-19 defeat to Davy Fitzgerald’s Antrim side in Cushendall.

Shane Meehan’s goal helped the Banner men to lead by 1-13 to 0-7 at the halfway stage and Tony Kelly and Mark Rodgers would increase their advantage with early second-half points.

Sean Elliott looked to pull the home side back into contention with a couple of converted frees, but David Fitzgerald’s goal with minutes remaining all but sealed the deal for Brian Lohan’s charges.

The later game in Division 1B saw Wexford scoring two late points to edge out Down by 0-27 to 0-25 at McKenna Park, Ballycran.

The Model men had run up a 0-20 to 0-12 lead by the end of the first-half, but the hosts got motoring after the change of ends with Daithi Sands and Paul Sheehan sending over scores to reduce their deficit.

Sheehan, Sands and Liam Savage shot points down the home stretch which brought the game level on 0-25 apiece by the 65th minute before Conor Hearne’s point was backed up by Simon Roche (free) late on to secure Wexford’s second win of the campaign.

In Division 2, Laois were emphatic in a 0-25 to 0-15 win against Derry to remain at the top of the table two rounds in, with Aaron Dunphy sending over a dozen of their points, while the other two games in the division finished all square.

Corey Scahill’s point in the sixth minute of injury-time saw Mayo earning a 1-16 to 0-19 draw against London in Ruislip, while Eamonn Cunneen also struck late for Westmeath in their 0-17 to 2-11 draw with Kerry in Tralee.

The day’s sole game in Division 3 saw Wicklow also emphatic in their 2-26 to 0-10 win over Armagh at Echelon Park, where Seanie Germaine and Padriag Doyle struck the goals to get the Garden men off the mark having lost narrowly to Roscommon on opening weekend.
