Scotstown goalkeeper Rory Beggan says his team mates “stood up and were counted” when it mattered most in yesterday evening’s Ulster club SFC final victory over Kilcoo.

The Monaghan champions claimed their club’s first Seamus McFerran Cup success in 36 years thanks to a 0-19 to 0-16 win at the Box-it Athletic Grounds.

Speaking to RTE Sport afterwards, Beggan, who contributed 0-11 in his team’s victory, heaped praise on his team mates and said they’d be looking forward to the celebrations to follow in the community after getting over the line against the Down champions.

"We were looking at a time when we might have been dealing with a fourth loss, but the lads stood up and were counted," the All-Star goalkeeper stated.

"We're embracing it now and looking forward to getting back to the community and celebrating it together.

"We never win these games easily. I don't think anyone wins these games easily, but we always bring a bit of chaos to our performances and that's been what helped us.

"When the chaos hit today near the end, we were fit to be composed and make the right decisions."
