Crossmaglen’s hopes of winning a 48th Armagh SFC title have received a huge boost with the news that Rian O’Neill is free to play in Sunday’s final against Killeavy.
Local journalist Niall McCoy is reporting that the 2024 Armagh All-Ireland SFC winner’s appeal against the straight red card he picked up in Cross’ extraordinary semi-final win over Clann Éireann has been successful. O’Neill was sent off for a high tackle with seven minutes remaining, but his team-mates rallied and secured a dramatic 0-23 to 1-19 victory courtesy of his brother Oisín’s huge two-point free at the death.
It completed a famous comeback for the Rangers who had trailed their Lurgan opponents by 14 points at half-time.
