Kildare champions Athy will play Meath counterparts Summerhill in the quarter-finals of the Leinster club senior in two weeks’ time after both teams emerged victorious from their respective provincial openers this afternoon.
Having torn up the script to halt Naas’s five-in-a-row bid a fortnight ago, Athy kept up their sizzling form by handing Wicklow champions Baltinglass a comprehensive 3-16 to 0-10 defeat in Aughrim.
Ross Bell and Conor Ronan’s side were 0-4 to 0-2 up when Ronan Kelly buried in their first goal in the 17th minute and they’d progress towards a 1-7 to 0-6 lead at the interval.
Conor Doyle sailed over an early two-pointer in the second-half for the visitors and they’d have the ball in the Baltinglass net through Kelly again in the 36th minute.
Jack Kirwan got a two-pointer back for Baltinglass, but there’d be no way back for them once James McGrath struck the game’s third goal with a dozen minutes remaining as the Kildare side comfortably advanced.

Great win lads 🔴⚪️ Onto the 1/4 final against Summerhill, Meath in two weeks in St. Conleth’s. @KildareGAA @KildareFan2025 @gaaleinster
In Navan, Summerhill were made come from behind to earn a 2-22 to 1-16 victory against Killoe Young Emmets of Longford.
The scores of Paddy Kiernan and Paddy Morgan helped Killoe get out to a 0-6 to 0-3 lead and they’d move four in front ahead of Conor Frayne getting one back to stem the tide for Summerhill.

The next attack would spell disaster for the Meath champions however, with Larry Moran palming to their net to make it a six-point game.
The hosts’ skipper Eoghan Frayne responded with a point ahead of firing to the net in the 27th minute, as Killoe’s lead was cut to the minimum (1-11 to 1-10) come half-time.
Kevin Ryan squared the sides a minute into the restart and Summerhill pulled clear from there, with an Eoghan Frayne two-pointer and a Sean Muddiman ‘45’ being followed up by an Adam Flanagan goal.
After that, the scores of Adam McDonnell, Conor Lyons, Eoghan Frayne (2) and Liam Shaw were more than enough to secure a provincial quarter-final berth for Dave Clare’s men.
