Carnew Emmets GAA are two wins away from a senior football and hurling championship double in Wicklow after the club’s hurlers emerged victorious from their semi-final yesterday.
The Emmets recorded a 4-10 to 0-11 win over Kiltegan to book their place in the Wicklow senior hurling championship final, with the footballers having secured their own county final spot last weekend thanks to a 2-16 to 0-13 extra time victory against Tinahely at Echelon Park.
Yesterday’s semi-final clash at the Aughrim venue saw goals from Paudie McGing, Fionn Darcy (2) and Daniel Redmond help Carnew to an 11-point victory which sees them into a third consecutive SHC final in the Garden County.
Eamonn Scallan’s men now await today’s winners between holders Bray Emmets and Avondale (2pm) in the county hurling final in three weeks’ time, with Carnew’s footballers set to play Baltinglass in the SFC final in a fortnight’s time.
