Jarlath Burns has described deliberations around Casement Park as a ‘pantomime’ and has also questioned the UK Government’s claim that the stadium would cost £400 million to rebuild.

The GAA president said Ulster GAA "were coming in with a completely different set of figures" to those made public by the British Government as he lamented their decision not to fund the redevelopment of the dilapidated Belfast venue in time for Euro 2028.

"I just feel that was unfair to come out with that figure of £400 million because that certainly didn’t align with any of the figures that we have had from our management consultants, who are stadia experts," Burns told BBC’s Sunday Politics show.

"The Ulster GAA and all of us have lost out. Really wasted a full year because of this pantomime we’ve had."
