Robbie Brennans post match comments was that it's a slight twinge and that Cian McBride broke a bone in hand and will be out for a few weeks. Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 774 - 04/02/2025 19:41:40 2589507 Link 0 |
'The new rules obviously play their part', must be the understatement of the week.

Just going through some players who might add to the panel, where did Jason Scully go. He had the makings of a fantastic player. Hootervillian1 (Meath) - Posts: 2 - 06/02/2025 11:33:43 2589733 Link 0 |
New management a much bigger part then the rules. Not a hope last years team under old management scored that even with the new rules. Think our league average last year was 11 points. Even if you took yesterday's game with old scoring system it was up around 3 16 , 3 17

100%. It mustn't be forgotten that we're coming from a really low base, so it's great to see some green shoots early on with lots of room for more.

Second highest scoring team across all 4 divisions. (Might fall to third after Kerry play Donegal). Every team playing the same rules, our attack looks better than a lot of them

It is very hard now to compare last year to this year because we were leaking so much last year but it seems a bit more par for the course this year. I have been away with work for the last 2 weeks so didnt get to see much of the team in action but I believe we had something like 40 scoring attempts against Cork and then another huge score against cavan with only 1 goal conceded in the 2 matches? And as one poster mentioned we are second highest in scores? JonnieG (Meath) - Posts: 250 - 07/02/2025 12:39:42 2589878 Link 0 |
Of course when I say at the end of the year I dont mean AI Final :) but knockout stages of some sort :)

Can't wait for the match Saturday. A win and we can dream about promotion for at least a few weeks. A loss and it's likely a relegation playoff in the Westmeath match. Think it will be very close. Could see us drawing. Down are stronger than the team we were fortunate to beat twice in the TC, but our scoring rate so far is very encouraging and the lads will take great heart from getting a win on the board last week. Small bit harsh to say we were fortunate to beat them in the TC final in my opinion.

We beat them twice in the TC despite being underdogs, and I don't think we were fortunate at all. They were completely overhyped and we good value for our win both times. Cork had them dead and buried too but let a 10 point lead slip. So based on what we've done so far, we should be good enough to beat them if we do what we have been doing. hyperache (Meath) - Posts: 266 - 14/02/2025 14:22:32 2590997 Link 0 |
I meant to win twice, when were fairly evenly match imo felt fortunate. Particularly in the group game, they had enough chances to win well but they missed a lot of easy points. MeathAbroad (Meath) - Posts: 129 - 14/02/2025 15:57:54 2591023 Link 0 |
Meath missed lots too on that day in parnell Park.

What a win! Morris and Frayne 16 points between them. Morris definitely MOTM. Thought Sean Rafferty was excellent in defence. Menton and Jonesy dominated midfield especially in the second half. Hard not to be bullish on promotion chances after a performance like that. Sheridan2010louth (Meath) - Posts: 209 - 15/02/2025 19:53:01 2591198 Link 0 |
Well do you think we deserved to win that, hon the Royals.

Sorry but in no way were Meath ever fortunate against down in the TC. No need to over egg the negativity about us.

Is it time for a midfield type player to be in goals. huge advantage when goalie goes up, if someone like dardis was still about it would be a massive advantage.

I see what your saying but I don't think that's necessary with this current meath team. I've always rated Billy Hogan since he played meath minors. He had 1 or 2 dodgy plays today but overall I thought he was good. Even with the new rules I think they suit Billy, he's comfortable on the ball and looks equally as fit as his teamates do. Plays outfield for his club.
