Thought it might be a good idea to have a specific thread for people to share info on challenge matches being played in the lead up to the league opener at the end of the month. GoalsWinGames (Meath) - Posts: 307 - 06/01/2025 12:51:56 2584771 Link 0 |
Played Tyrone yesterday. Don't know how it went . All I know is it was supposed to be in Navan but got pulled and was played somewhere else.

Thanks for sharing. Genuine question, where do you hear who they're playing, let alone the final scores? I couldn't find a word about this match anywhere online. They've ended up with players still having plenty of matches to play in, just without it technically being O'Byrne Cup or without any opportunity for casual supporters to follow.

Well beaten either way. Game against Kerry this weekend, no details of where and when. Sheridan2010louth (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 06/01/2025 16:07:45 2584795 Link 1 |

Nothing stopping anyone i'm sure from rocking up to Dunboyne football pitch and watching it, can't imagine Dessie Farrell or Ger Brennan will be trying to spy on us…

For those hoping to see David Clifford play, Its Meath development vs kerry development team.

It was Kerry senior team whereby the Clifford brothers and Sean O'Shea didn't play up against Meath's U20 team and Kerry won by 20 plus points.

Definitely wasn't kerrys development panel unless Shane Ryan, Tom O'Sullivan, Jason Foley, Graham O'Sullivan, Tadhg Morley, Diarmuid O'Connor, Dylan Geaney and Killian Spillianne aren't in Jack O'Connors plans this year… Complete waste of time if i'm honest. If Kerry were gonna come all the way up to Dunboyne with that squad of players Meath should've atleast played some first team players to challenge their best players. Hard to believe Kerry agreed to play Meath u20 team!! Was it organised by u20 mgt team?? royalproxy (Meath) - Posts: 48 - 11/01/2025 21:34:56 2585556 Link 1 |
Wasn't the Meath u20s. It was the meath development squad. Basically meaths 3rd string. There was no meath player today who is u20

Thanks for that. Couldn't have been much benefit for either side really. royalproxy (Meath) - Posts: 48 - 12/01/2025 10:50:16 2585595 Link 0 |
No it probably wasn't. Minutes in the legs of the kerry established lads that played if Minutes were needed and another game under the new rules for all players was the only benefit Blackspot09 (Meath) - Posts: 1035 - 12/01/2025 11:21:36 2585598 Link 0 |
From what I heard but i could be wrong Meaths first team were suppose to play Kerrys first team this weekend in dunboyne, but Kerry decided to send there development squad instead, don't know the reason why they did that ,so Meath arranged a challenge game for this weekend against galway instead not sure if it was yesterday or today, so in dunboyne yesterday was Meath v Kerry development squads. All very messy and costly indeed, the GPA messed up on this one how much easier would playing the o byrne Cup of been. Royal.Legend (Meath) - Posts: 690 - 12/01/2025 13:05:11 2585617 Link 0 |
Shane Ryan, Tom O'Sullivan, Jason Foley, Graham O'Sullivan, Tadhg Morley, Diarmuid O'Connor, Dylan Geaney and Killian Spillianne all played or came on yesterday. That is nowhere near a Kerry development squad. It was a team of established starters and subs from the main panel. 100% wasn't a development squad. Meath on the other hand had only Dathi McGowan involved who would be classed as an established senior panelist. Blackspot09 (Meath) - Posts: 1035 - 12/01/2025 13:37:13 2585621 Link 0 |
