Replying To bdbuddah:  "Flynn was one of the main positives last year, disaster to lose him.
Surprised we're favourites with the bookies based on evidence from division 2 so far.
I'm going in hope tomorrow rather than expectation."
Agree!

Replying To Crinigan:  "Goes to show you what the right manager can do. McGuinness is an extraordinary character, one of the few interesting men left in GAA. We don't have anyone like that in Meath, hence why I wanted to go outside the county for our managerial appointment but alas…"
Yeah very true. He just has that star quality. Look at the players he has lost and can still build a team to be reckoned with. I might be totally wrong here. But I get a sense that Gillespie could do a good job in years to come.

Up early. Nerves kicked in big time. I hope the training session the team did last weekend pays off. I can't stand the thought of been in division 3 again. We individually have better players than that. So to all players today go out play with heads up passion and pride. Try to focus on yourselves and not the sideline.

Replying To thelutch:  "Big game tomorrow , win and it will lift morale for next game against lilies', loose or draw and its goodnight irene and back to division 3 again which is probably where we sit at present, with only 31 counties plus London and new york making up the whole championship its hard to stomach a big proud county like us are only ranked in between 16 and 20 at present when you look at what is the current state of play.

Louth will be very hard bet tomorrow and I am more hopeful than confident to say the least, ill be delighted with a win but honestly surprised. Structurally Louth are better than us and they were unfortunate to only loose by a point to Armagh away, dug out a win against Cork then.

This game is massive tomorrow."
With the group of players Meath have, division 3 is not where they are at. Meath should be a high end division 2 team. What Meath have is a division 3 management, which the dogs on the street know is the case. Division 3 would be time wasted and a disaster for Meath.

Totally agree. And worse still if we do drop Will the cb have the balls to change things ? Or we could end up in div 4.

Walsh and Kinsella in, that improves us in my opinion. Need to clock up 14 or 15 points to win this

Poor enough half Louth should have 3 or 4 more points scored

We're in deep, deep trouble here. Issues everywhere, passive, running down blind alleys, not making simple catches. McBride isn't going to be a replacement for Flynn either that's for sure. Louth much smarter in attack although we're making it so easy for them. Don't see any way we win this.

A very poor first half but an excellent turnaround in the second - more stingy in defence (bar coughing up a goal chance or two) and then much more clinical going forward with pass selection and shots.

Ultimately it turned into a derby scrap, and the fitter team won out. Although it is another case of a Louth team on the home straight imploding against Meath. 2 very hard earned points.

Glad to get the win , I don't care how we won as long as we won , it's a start and hopefully grab another win next week that will leave us in a more comfortable position for now.

Louth handed the game back. They had no idea what to do when it was theirs. Only for brilliance of Costello.

Much better performance in the second half! Costello did great!
Still a long way from where we need to be but at least the 2 points in the bank are of value!
Thought we looked physically weaker in midfield without Flynn and if he remains out I'd be hoping Gray can get back to 100% and push on!
Will obviously need one more win - maybe two - so got keep improving!

Gutsy win even if we did make hard work of it in the end. Matt Costello picked a good time to get his first score from play in the league. He is definitely not a full forward. Shane walsh was lively. 2 massive scores from Eoghan Frayne to get level then one up, really am not sure why he isnt taking frees. Good to see the bench play well. Hickey, O'Halloran and Dixon all made an impact.

Performance as error strewn as the Fermanagh/Armagh games, however, a notable improvement in attitude/work rate combined with weaker opposition got us over the line. Morale boosting victory, hopefully the platform for the next two games which will ultimately define our league campaign.

Didnt see that second half coming. I thought we were very fortunate to be as close as we were at half time. Adam o Neill and Keoghan probably kept us in it. I thought Dixon looked lively when he came on. Credit to Costello, that was some goal considering he was probably having his worst ever game for Meath. Hopefully we can kick on now, retain our Division 2 status and then fet everyone back for the championship. Adam o Neill man of the match I thought.

Didn't see second half performance coming at all either. Work rate doubled. I think you seen that running game teams have to break down mass defenses was more effective as both teams played better against wind when running the ball. Been a lot of talk about centre back position on here, but I thought Campion was very good with excellent distribution. O'Neill looks to be developing into a big player for us. Frayne and Walsh stood up when scores were badly needed which showed they've character. Consistency is what's needed now and have them racking up 3/4 points from play every game.
