Replying To runnerin:  "Why should we beat Wexford comfortably?
They beat Offaly, who knocked us out of Leinster, scoring 1-22 doing so
I can't remember the last time we got near 23 scores in a game, far from a foregone conclusion in my opinion especially the way this year is going"
Should beat them. But you right this year anything is possible. But hopefully management have learned on the job and won't revert back to what was clearly not working. Start with a solid defensive system and work from there.

We hit 20 scores against most Waterford and Tipperary (1-19 and 3-17) so that point is kind of redundant…

They're on good form sure and momentum is huge in football - but they're a division 4 team finished mid table in div 4 and 3rd in their TC group - so if we can't beat them by 8/9/10 points, plus, then we're in an even so worse place than I thought (and I think we're in a pretty bad place)

No disrespect to Wexford, I'm sure after beating Offaly they won't fear coming to Navan to have a go, why should they? We're not world beaters but I can't fathom in a million years how we could not win this game

Day is long gone when we could expect to beat any team comfortably, Wexford, away from home, ran up a big score and most, if not all, came from play. A good start and crowd behind us should see us making semi final. However, as you say no foregone conclusion.

Offaly were very poor. I was there. They looked tired/disinterested. They were down 4 starters from their win over you. The reason we didn't score any frees is because we didn't get given any scorable ones. We missed none. We only got 10 all game tbh. Shows how half hearted Offaly were, although the ref was a bit one handed ok. I can't see us beating you but will bring the kids up to Navan in hope rather than expectation.

Me either to be honest. But I felt same b Limerick and louth and Offaly. You just can't tell this year. We have been downright terrible

Not saying we won't win and I think we will but in my mind it's foolish to think we'll win comfortably
I doubt the team/management will thinking that way

Very interesting to hear about Offaly. Maybe after Leinster (extra time v Louth etc, and the Meath game), and an average enough Tailteann campaign, as you say the lads threw in the towel a bit, or were tired. But fair play to Wexford, thats a great win and its great to see Leinster teams in the final 8. Wexford bring great colour (love their kit) to any game, and I'm looking forward to mingling with supporters in Navan. Its been a long time since I was at a Meath/Wexford game.

On prediction, dont be worrying about hope or expectation, Wexford have every chance if they go out and express themselves and put up a score, and Im saying that as a passionate Meath fan. This isnt the old days!

I still wake up screaming in the middle of the night remembering the game in Carlow in 08

That was Matty Forde in his pomp, one of the greatest forwards the game has seen.

He was unbelievable that day. I remember him kicking points from the sidelines with both feet.

Yeah, the day is long gone when we expect to beat teams comfortably unfortunately.I think Wexfords league position is false they had alot of injuries during the year but now look to have everyone back. They have nothing to lose and the pressure is on us.I can see it been a tight game but hopefully with been at home we will get over the line.Hopefully there will be a good crowd at the game and weather stays good.

I hope COR and the players treat wexford with the same respect they treated Down 2 weeks ago..... cause looking at the highlights of offaly v wexford, wexford forwards had the freedom of Tullamore any time they got the bell, offaly defence non existent. Once we are clued in defensively again I can only see 1 winner.

Yes.....no justification for any other approach on form to date........I would hope to see us getting the basics correct more often. Its all about continuing on the road to improvement...nothing else. For me i want to still see a tighter marking defence,no standing back from the attacker ,and using the tackle more often . For this game i think every forward must take responsibility for shooting when within range for a score .with less hesitation . I hope to see us nearer to having at least a primary freetaker. Workrate should not be an issue from start to finish. Every player playing to his best for the team and lets see where that leaves us in terms of improvement .

Not just Matty. Ciaran Lyng scored more from play, as did Red and PJ.

We are still missing Sheehan injured and O Connor and Shanley abroad. Plus Bealin mustn't be up to speed yet though he is back after being away in Belgium I think it was. And there's a few lads who are very good footballers who wouldn't commit to intercounty football.

I read somewhere Sheehan is back for Saturday but in fairness you would know more than me about Wexford.I just think some people are judging Wexford on the league but getting players back they've done much better in Tailteann cup.I suppose you could say the same about us better performance s in cup compared to the league.Always a soft spot for Wexford,in 1996 they swapped ticket allocations with Meath for both all Ireland s so meant a few more real fans could go to both finals and we both won.Safe travelling to you Viking 66.

With playing from an almost full deck Wexford seem to have turned the corner. Drawing with Fermanagh, then losing narrowly to Antrim . We then beat Leitrim handy enough. The Offaly game of course was the one that really turned heads.
Meath will be a big challenge and will be rightly strong favourites, but I think our lads will enter the game full of confidence after last week.
If we lose and play well I will be happy enough.

Thanks Proudroyal. I'm looking forward to the game already. Might be the last trip to a game outside the County with the kids for a year!

Looking at the teams involved and the current situation COR must be thinking, We really need to win this competition to progress.

At 5/1 in PP I think it could be a very good investment. With the exception of Cavan and maybe Down & Offaly there is nobody really capable of winning it.

I believe we MUST win this competition and use it as a stepping stone on the road to progression, draw a line in the sand and start here.

I cant wait to beat those BIFFOS !!!!!"
Ah Now I remember starting this forum, eventually gained a bit of momentum.

Will I cash out or hold on :)

Easy Money, well done to all the management and players.

Great to see so many young players smiling today.

A step in the right direction.
