Got promoted to junior A by default

I'm going for The Hill and The Tones , While I agree that Ratoath are arguably the best team in Meath they have been too inconsistent for me. Plus the dual players taking its toll. Very lucky to be still in the championship but in fairness they know how to smash and grab also.
The Hill and The Tones are both very well structurally set up and their game management is impressive.

In the relegation I'm going for Moynalvey to outbattle Dunboyne and Na Fianna to scrape past Skyrne.

Another one sided Junior B game (a semi final) between two first teams last night. Shows how low the standard has gone in the Junior grades.

Replying To latouche25:  "From the start of the season I said Summerhill were the team to beat. I still hold that view. They are strong from 1 to 15 and have an abundance of talent on the bench. Just look at Conor Frayne,John Keane, Shaw and others not in the starting team.
Then there's Ratoath everyone's favourite all year until the fright they got against Dunsaughlin. This will stand to them and will be at the pitch of the game from the start against the Tones. For Tones to win Ratoath will have to be well below par and the Tones to play out of their skin. With the weather forecast I don't see this happening and a comfortable win for both Summerhill and Ratoath on the cards. Both teams are just way ahead of the rest."
I think Dunsaughlin are a lot better than people have given them credit for, without Conor Gray they should have beaten Ratoath and would have been very difficult to stop.

I think Ratoath probably are the best team in the county, but injuries have hit them hard and they look there for the taking. they have some good individuals but they haven't looked one bit impressive in the last 2 games.

Tones are again another team nobody on here ever gives an ounce of hope, most people had them going out in the group stage earlier in this threat. But they have some good players, and more importantly are a good unit. Fancy them to just edge it in an upset.

Ratoath v Wolfe Tones Wolfe Tones by 2
Summerhill v Donaghmore / Ashbourne Summerhill by 5

Relegation:
Dunboyne v Moynalvey Moynalvey by 1
Na Fianna v Skyrne Na Fianna by 6

Can't see kilmainhamwood doing much better in other semi, slane and moynalty are way ahead of the rest should be a close final

Ah now young Stafford could win this game for Kilmainhamwood on his own. Slane aren't all they're cracked up to be

I think Junior A is in a good state after the restructure. Castletown won Leinster and we have seen Kilmainham and Vincent's go straight in to another relegation fight after dropping down from intermediate.

The problem is there does seem to be a fair chasm between the Junior A teams, Moynalty and Slane and the rest of Junior B.

There are probably 3 or 4 tiers of ability within Junior B

Don't think they've ever won Junior B though I don't think they were in Junior B for too long. They were in junior A since 2020 and avoided the drop when it was split again.

For us, there's serious deja vu from 2021 when we had a heap of injuries too and came up against a talented and determined Tones side in the semi final. I'm hoping that we can get through but even so, Summerhill must be licking their lips if they get by Don/Ash as expected regardless of who comes through the other semi final. On form, they have the beating of both sides.

I see the Dublin quarter finals are on RTE tomorrow. Interestingly a good few Meath men involved with the teams. Robbie Brennan managing Kilmacud Crokes with Bernard Flynn now involved on the ticket. Brian Farrell managing Castleknock. Shane Mangan coaching Ballyboden St Enda's. All have been involved in backroom teams with Meath before. Hopefully they could bring some ideas back to the club game here. Especially interested to see how Brian Farrell gets on, always thought he came across well in interviews.

Did you think Kilmainhamwood had found a time machine and brought Brian Stafford back?

Sorry - I must be on my own so!! I prefer the second and third team games to watch!! Rarely is there any of the 14/15 men behind the ball stuff! And sometimes you catch a game where both teams really have a go!
First team football is all about the style of play and tactics the manager employs! Give me two evenly matched second teams any day!

Agreed
Second team is where you see the players who are coming through

I'm a neutral living slap bang in the middle of Meath no ties to any club . It's got nothing to do with na fianna it's happening in many counties . Meath gaa not applying a rule that was brought in isnt na fiannas fault and longwood look to be making a similar appeal in the hurling so it is very common . If it was your own club it wouldn't be said . The Leinster council will not be bullied by Meath co board and they are just delaying the inevitable. Na fianna will get at minimum a play off . Meath gaa are really going to mess up a whole championship over not doing what they are told by a higher power"
Hopefully you'll get a chance to visit the website again with your busy schedule.
Na fianna's appeal with the DRA was unsuccessful last night….
What happened to Na Fianna getting a play off at a minimum? How did that turn out.

Your words are still marked down.
I don't think there are many teams in the Meath SFC worried about Na Fianna to be fair.

I have no interest in any club involved with appeals, I want to make that clear. I do not dispute that Meath GAA had there own bye laws and are within the law to use them as they see fit. My issue is with the wording and the progression of the said bye law. There were 2 bye laws, one took into account teams forfeiting games etc. The problem arises if you apply a common line. Why apply points won (only to teams involved) but not scores? I agree, it should only concern teams involved in the ties. But, the rule should follow through the whole process. Needs to be clarified next year as to why the rule does not follow through. Personally, I believe it was not properly understood and a mistake was made. And that is OK, just fix it. Can do without the clouded waters.

This also aged well. They appealed to the DRA and their appeal was rejected.
Looks like the county board had call their ducks in a row from the very start as it appeared from looking at the competition regulations so you'd wonder how on Earth the Leinster Council managed to rule against them in the first place.
You'd wonder how this has affected the Na Fianna players in their preparations for the relegation playoffs.

As a neutral today at the game, the senior semi final is up there with one of the worst performances from a referee i've seen in awhile. Wolfe Tones would have to be very disappointed with the chances that missed 3 45 kicks and a point or 2 that went wide in the second half. They had there chances but Ratoath are very poor and with that you'd have to think Summerhill will be favorites and if they show up at all should get the job done. The referee performance today was awful, the standard of referees is so poor and doesn't help the flow of games at all

Poor game for neutral - fair. Probably need to acknowledge the conditions a bit though.
Don't think the referee was the main take away from the game.
Some excellent defending by both teams! Cian ward came on for the clutch moment! Didn't materialise for him. Hard luck Tones.
Joey Wallace reintroduced for Ratoath is a big addition for the final.
