Replying To BigJoe14: "What's the story with the randomness of the fixtures for the next few weeks? Has their been any explanation given for this? Some knockout and relegation matches in the Intermediate and Senior Championships are on this weekend? Doesn't make any sense to break clubs momentum by having a month break. But then again the Meath GAA seem to be pretty useless when it comes or organizing fixtures. They can't make a plan for two weeks in advance, never mind have fixtures mapped out from the start to the end of a competition. Also the Meath GAA website is not the clearest or easiest site to figure out. Could have been made a lot more simple." Agreed,,, a months break is a teams reward for topping the group , likewise the stretched out relegation.. However I suppose the Hurlers have to be factored in , to get it all in.. and the dual player not to be playing 7 or 8 weeks in a row.

Wouldn't think the ccc worrying about dual players never did before. I think they planned the IFC pre Lims only this weekend... seems mad that quarterfinals that could be played should be played waiting 4 weeks is a joke

What is going on with the fixtures for the next stage of the Club Championships? Why has their been such a gap and still no word on when the fixtures will be released for games due to be played the weekend after next? Trying to get some information/fixtures from Meath GAA is like trying to get blood from a stone. What is the reason behind no games on this weekend coming up? Dragging competitions out for the sake of it. And the famous CCC don't seem to be accountable to anyone and also the Meath county board themselves don't know what they are going to do next. Games should be fixed minimum one month in advance (ideally at the start of the year from start to finish) but the CCC seem to be happy to fix games with 10 days notice.

Agreed that fixtures should be set from further out - would be nice to get decent notice whether you're playing fri night, sunday evening or somewhere in between so you could make some personal plans.
There are club championships games this weekend, the hurling is on. Dual clubs are having it tough enough this year without expecting them to play twice in a weekend! :)

Some big positives on fixtures this year Games every two weeks Master planner published in May has been adhered to (this is the key as you know what weekends you can and can't go away) Lots of games played on Saturdays and most Sunday games being played early in the day
There's lots to work on for sure but would just like to call out some things that as a player have definitely made playing GAA more enjoyable this year> Next up would be to play the league in the 3/4 weeks before Championship and shorten the season - no one wants to play league in Feb/March when championship is starting in August! It's much easier to give a proper commitment to playing a sport when it's only 4/5 months of the year.

Have been critical of the Co. Board in the past in this regards but in recent years they've been excellent. I'm really not sure what's gone on this year. It's quite obvious it's alternating football/hurling each weekend but why they just couldn't release all the group games with dates/times/venues in one batch is frustrating for players and mentors. OK while you may know you're playing on X weekend, there's a huge difference between playing on Friday @7pm versus Sunday @5pm.
I think their scheduling of the cup competition finals last weekend was ill advised and they've shown scant regard for clubs particularly those in relegation expected to trundle away for 4 weeks and SIX weeks in extreme case between games.
I would think 6 weeks is an unacceptable period of time between games and could have been avoided had the Cups either been finished prior to commencing the championships or left until they were over.
