Has no body anything to say on Andy staying on? I'm surprised it's so quiet.. Ed2010 (Meath) - Posts: 109 - 07/10/2021 10:04:51 2384686 Link 0 |
Fresh reports this morning that he's gone!

Apparently some committee voted not to go with him 8 v 7. What's going on there? What committee is that and who is on it?

Wonder why they are favourites?

15 is a big committee, so should be easy enough to work out what committee is. Easy enough to have 8 enemies within the county with all the reports of walkouts from the panel over the years. If he was going it should have been in the aftermath of the Dublin game. Nothing to do with the performance, which was one of the better one of his tenure, well second half in my opinion but to give time for his successor to be appointed and evaluate the championships about to commence at that time.

Are you asleep, it's the county committee. You know they run the county.

To be fair, a "good bet" doesn't necessarily mean they're guaranteed to win, it means that it's good value based on their current odds possibly being wider than they should be (the whole risk vs. reward aspect of it). Kells should have beaten Ratoath last year and beat Dunboyne last year, so I'd agree that 5/1 is a decent bet. I'd have Tones as a good bet as they've been impressive so far and I think they will take Na Fianna. If they do, they would have nothing to lose going into a semi final against Ratoath or Summerhill. I wouldn't class 7/4 for Ratoath as a "great bet", simply because the odds are too narrow in what's still an 8 horse race.

I would take Summerhill as the best bet. If they beat Ratoath on Sunday then they would fancy their chances against Na Fianna or Tones. On the other side of the draw it's more difficult as Ashbourne will have to beat Kells and then more than likely Dunboyne. I reckon Ratoath will win it and Tones are my outsider based on league form. No, im wide awake. Who is on the "county committee"? I even researched it before posting, there are a large number of sub-committees listed on the Meath GAA website, nowhere does it stipulate who is on the "County Committee" or even mention County Committee from what i can see (i could be wrong!).

Spot on there, it is probably hidden away somewhere on the website thought. But one would imagine it would be easily accessed, which it doesn't appear to be. But when GAA affairs, in the county were on the up now we will have probably more blood-letting and tomfoolery, spoiling the feel-good factor. Please, please, will somebody manage this affair properly from now on. In my humble opinion if the current management was to be replaced the process should have commenced the week after our exit following the Dublin game. I saw that but its not 15 names. Media reports state that the vote went 8-7. This county management committee only has 9 named members.

Thanks for that. So the north Meath cartel many would imagine getting McEntee out (I know he's not popular in Kells area for eg). Good few south /east Meath people on that committee. For what it's worth, I'm not a huge fan of his performance as manager overall but with the players we have coming through I wouldn't have objected to him seeing his tenure out with another season in order to provide stability and in the absence of outstanding candidates currently out there. Maybe they think they can get McGuinness or Gavin or Gilroy but I doubt that much planning in play. Crinigan (Meath) - Posts: 1352 - 07/10/2021 18:20:32 2384806 Link 10 |

There is strong rumours around ratoath that they are missing 6 starters tomorrow anyone know if this is true.there was supposedly a bust up in training during the week and 6 walked off . Don't know how true this is. Iknowitall123### (Meath) - Posts: 2 - 09/10/2021 18:42:43 2385045 Link 1 |
Back in the day, there were loads of posters that would gloat the moment Ratoath went out of the championship. I really don't like it when Ratoath posters do the same nowadays. Well done Don/Ash. Commiserations to Kells. Well done also to Tones. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1374 - 09/10/2021 18:49:36 2385047 Link 12 |
