Replying To Bear10:  "This is probably Kell's Best chance of getting to the final but I am not sure if will beat Na Fianna . Na Fianna seem to have a lot of younger players coming through and could turn them over"
Watched Ratoath/ simonstown and really enjoyed it
(apart from the telly freezing a number of times)
Tough championship game , looked like ever score was hard fought
Ratoath had a bit more in the tank and but for being asleep for the first 10 minutes this could have being alt easier
They will need to be a lot sharper against Summerhill and won't get away with a slow start
Ben Mc gown stood out for me

I had a feeling all along that Kells would be big challengers to Ratoath, I think they will account for Na Fianna then again I though Don/Ash would too so there you are, still I'll go for a Ratoath/Kells final. At the other end I think Curraha have performed the best overall of the four teams scrapping to survive, very surprised that Nobber got such a stuffing after their heroic win over Simonstown, Dunshaughlin and Seneschelstown look the more likely to go down, whoever loses that game I think is goosed.

Agree Kells look like they will give it a good go this year. Not having a break will benefit them as they never looked as good in previous years after the break as they did in April. When are the relegation semis fixed for?
Curraha/Nobber will be very close. Dunshaughlin look a pale shadow of the team that reached the knockout stage last year, Seneschelstown will fancy there chance there.

Replying To Talking_Sense:  "I am sorry but there is a gulf in class between Kells and Na Fianna. Ashbourne are awful and the standard was awful them and Na fianna. Na Fianna are not top 6 if you consider Ratoath, Kells, Simonstown, Dunboyne, Summerhill and say the Wolfe Tones. Kells can throw there hat at it if they cant beat Na Fianna"
You could be right about Kells & Na Fianna but a semi Final & Kells ?? I didn't see the game but according to reports Ashbourne could have won either and missed a lot of chances . But I do think if you are in the last 4 anything can happen and usually best teams on form are there

Replying To TobinsBeard:  "They made the semi finals 3 out of four years, losing to the eventual winner three times and last year they pushed Ratoath closer than anyone else. It is as close as you can get.
If Kells can somehow sort their usual achilles heel (midfield) they have a real chance this year. They have a great blend of youth and experience going on."
I would see Kells backline as a weak link too. In their games to date, they've given away a lot of goal chances and only the goalkeeper Carry Lynch and poor finishing from the opposition has saved them.
If Na Fianna play big men like Queeney and perhaps Walsh in the forward line they'll win marks all day as the Kells defence is small and poor under a high ball.
With the correct tactics, Na Fianna should win that game.

Kells backline is far from weak.... you need to start opening your eyes and start watching football before coming on forums and spreading non facts

Agree with Meath32245. Kells have pretty good defence. I fancy Ratoath to beat Summerhill and Kells to beat Na Fianna with something in hand. The problem for Kells is can they cope with the Ratoath midfield and push and physicality they bring to the game. SImonstown did great against them and missed at least 3 massive chances to win the game at 10 all with around 3 minutes to go. Ratoath were really on the rack the last day. Simonstown seemed to get the tactics spot on, led at end of every quarter and just failed to score when it mattered most in final moments of the game. Your unlikely to see that with Kells if they need to score at the death but Kells need to get hands on breaking ball. Will they get their hands on enough ball around midfield and that is the big IF. They did not last year whne it was put up to them

On what basis is it far from weak? What are its strengths?
You could expand your point a little.
At the weekend they conceded 1-15 against a Dunshaughlin team that a poster above commented were poor up top. That was with a save from the goalkeeper being highlighted on Meath Daily TV and another chance that Dunshaughlin should have buried early on - open goal and the forward, Mitchell I think it is, didn't manage to get his boot to it.
Against Dunboyne, better finishing would have seen them beaten in the first fifteen minutes but Dunboyne spurned a number of chances. From the last water break, they reverted to 15 men behind the ball.
They conceded 1-12 against St Colmcilles when James Conlon caused umpteen problems.
I've seen plenty of football including all three Gaeil Colmcille games. One was broadcast on Meath TV and the other two are on Facebook, the Dunshaughlin game still being live to watch, bar the last 15 minutes where they lost signal.
If you want stats, Kells have conceded 46 points, that's at least eight more than any other group winner.

The bottom line is if you put everything to one side, Gaeil Colmcille are the strongest team left in the last 4 and are a considerably better team than everyone else. They have been gearing for this moment for the last 12 months and will have learned from their loss V Ratoath 12 months ago. I think you'll see a Kells v Ratoath final with kells winning by 8 plus. They've too much talent at their disposal

We must have alot of Kells supporters on here with some of what I'm reading.
Kells have never reached a Senior final in recent times. They're not that long out of intermediate.
Summerhill were busy winning the Senior championship in 2011 and 2013 when Kells were only intermediate. They have contested the last three finals.
Na Fianna were reaching the senior final in 2013 and did so again in 2015.
Ratoath are the current champions.
To say that Kells are ''considerably better team than everyone else'' is an insult to these teams. Kells haven't even one county player.

I'm from Kells. I think previous poster is on the windup tbh. They are going well but you could make a good case for any of the four remaining teams, they are all capable of winning it. Semi finals and finals are different beasts. I don't think any person who knows their football on here (be they from Kells or anywhere else, thinks different.)

You've mentioned the years 2011, 2013, and 2015. Either 9, 7 or 5 years ago. This is 2020. Kells in 2020 are the best team in senior

Must admit I would like to see Kells win it for their club and area in general but I cannot see it happen . I think Na Fianna with just about beat them and this would be their first also have contesting 2 Finals. Summerhiil & Ratoath has to be Ratoath with the Wallaces back .

Be good if they could win their 1st final but cant see them beating Na Fianna

Would not be saying Kells are strongest team left now. Thats a stretch, Kells well beat last year by Ratoath. Champions are the strongest team left. They got a big examination at the weekend fromn Simonstown and came up with all the answers. Kells beat Dunboyne who have a very soft underbelly. Dunboyne folded last year as well to Simonstown so I whilst it was good win for Kells, they will beat Na Fianna but Ratoath will take beating

Read the post again. I also mentioned last year and the last three years. The point is that the three other teams have pedigree of reaching or winning finals in the last decade whereas Kells have never reached a final and are not that long out of intermediate.
I'm very surprised to see they seem to be favourites for so many. They're a good team but are limited with no player good enough to make the Meath team or even panel.

All the anti Kells brigade out again. I watched them and they have a very good attack average mid field and average defense, Very hard working team with great spirit. I watched Summerhill they were described by many Summerhill supporters as the weakest team from the club in living memory. Came out of a poor group with Moynalvy, Curraha and Tones, Watched that game it was dreadful, If Tones showed any ambition they would have put them to the sword. Na fianna are the surprise packet in the semi Finals. No form coming into it and hard to judge. Ratoath are the defending champions and have the form. Still only scraped over Simonstown last day out. I can't see why Kells would fear anyone there.

That's a great rebuttal to the points I have raised (that's sarcasm in case you don't realise). Do you actually have any opinion on the subject where you can back it up by referring to an actual game or previous performance from Gaeil Colmcille?

Kells should not and will not fear anyone. Using the Dunshaughlin game to slate their defence isn't fair given that they were already guaranteed top spot and were hardly going to be going full tilt.
I'm not convinced by our team this year. Without the Wallaces we look quite toothless us front at times and I think the remaining teams can exploit that. Obviously delighted to have won the kind of game on Sunday and to be in another semi final, but I don't think we're playing anywhere close to the same level as last year.
