Kevin O’Brien has stepped down as Westmeath senior hurling manager after just one season in charge.
The Clonkill man took over from Seoirse Bulfin ahead of the 2026 campaign but endured a difficult year, with Westmeath managing just one victory from five outings in the Joe McDonagh Cup.
Westmeath GAA confirmed his departure on Thursday, thanking O’Brien for his commitment and contribution to the county and wishing him well for the future.
O’Brien previously guided Clonkill to back-to-back Westmeath senior hurling championship titles in 2018 and 2019.
A statement from Westmeath county board read: "We thank Kevin for his commitment and contribution to Westmeath hurling and the senior hurling team in 2026 and wish him every success in the future.
"Westmeath GAA will now commence the search for a new senior hurling manager for 2027."
