Former Galway forward Aislinn Connolly says curtailing Cork’s full-forward line “would go a long way” to giving the Tribeswomen the edge in today’s All-Ireland senior camogie championship final.

Cathal Murray’s side meet the Rebels at 4.15pm at Croke Park looking to make it back-to-back O’Duffy Cup triumphs for the first time in their county’s history.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1's Saturday Sport show, two-time All-Star Connolly said she hopes that Galway’s defence can curb what is a deadly attacking threat from the Munster kingpins.

"I think if we were able to control and nullify Cork's full-forward line that would go a long way. Obviously, there are a lot of positions on the field that are very important and that but Amy O'Connor, Sorcha McCartan and Orla Callaghan are absolutely class players physically, their skill level, their speed,” she said.

"They're just in top form as well. I think they've scored 60% of all the scores for Cork in this championship. So if Rachael Hanniffy, Róisín Black, Dervla Higgins are able to nullify them.

"So I think, for me, if we can nullify the ball going into Cork's full-forward line and our backs are touch tight on those girls and just don't let them get the ball because once they get the ball it's very hard to get it off them."

She added: "I think Cork, it really is amazing how they're back in the All-Ireland final again having lost 14 players from last year. If you go a little bit deeper, they have eight players starting tomorrow who started in last year's All-Ireland final. They didn't have a good start to the league or the Munster championship but come the championship, as Cork always do, they are a different animal in the championship."
