The 2026 Cavan senior football championship throws in this evening when defending champions Kingscourt Stars face Ramor United at Kingspan Breffni (8pm).

Last October saw Kingscourt stunning a fancied Gowna side (2-16 to 0-13) at the same venue to land their first county SFC crown in 10 years, and this evening sees Colin Kelly’s side commence their defence of the Oliver Plunkett Cup.

Cavan Gaels and Mullahoran are set to renew rivalries at the same time tomorrow evening at the Cavan Town ground, where all of the weekend’s first round senior clashes are down for decision.

Saturday sees intermediate champions Cuchulainns back in the SFC race as they open against Laragh United (6.30pm) before Killygarry take on Castlerahan (8pm).

Gowna versus Ballyhaise is the early throw-in on Sunday (5.30pm) ahead of 2024 champions Crosserlough meeting Arva at 7.30pm.
