Colmcille manager Ger Carberry wasn’t getting carried away after his side booked a return to the Longford senior football championship final last weekend.
Carberry’s men defeated favourites Clonguish by 2-11 to 1-10 on Saturday to return to the same stage which they lost to Abbeylara on 12 months.
This time around it’s Killoe that await them in the Sean Connolly Cup decider on Sunday week and, speaking to Northern Sound Radio after his team’s win against Clonguish, Carberry said he knows his team will be outsiders come county final day.
“We know and the group know inside, we're no further on than we were last year. There's no point celebrating tonight, if nothing goes right the next day,” he said.
“We just keep the heads down, the feet on the ground, and we'll prepare as best we can for Killoe.”
The Colmcille boss added: “I know we were underdogs. Maybe, people were kind of judging us on the form of this year. Clonguish were going in unbeaten and we lost our last group game to Killoe.
“We got over the line against Abbeylara, I can understand Clonguish were probably deserved favourites going in. No one believed in us bar the group, the lads that were inside that dressing room.”
